I don't like lowered stuff...so I'd like to make my truck look more like a 4x4. No I will not put 4x4 stickers on it, but I'm considering a lift and bigger tires. Since I got a V6 I don't wanna go too big cuz I want to still have a fairly quick truck and not be using all that power to turn the wheels. I am talking...like a stock 4x4, not something with some 12" lift and 35" super swamper tires...lol. Can ya'll tell me what diameter tires come on a stock V6 4x4 and what you'd recommend for a lift, if any? Also, how easy are lifts to do... require professional work or just a bit of time, elbow grease and money for alignments and stuff?

I sit quite a bit higher than other daks. A 4.7 sat next to me at the track, and I think I was about 2-4 inches higher. Stock tires I think are 235's...I'm rolling on 265's on 16 inch rims. It's nice looking at my truck that sits so much higher than the others. I basically dwarf s10's and rangers.

I didn't post my track times yet because my time slips are at my other house in baltimore. 17.6@ 76mph isn't that great. But I did have misfire in cyl 1 (damn ap3923's switched to bosch after race)

3.9 cc 4x4 265's 3.55 gears

Modded intake manifold, 1" tb spacer (free), 50mm polished tb, Homebrew CAIntake, Jet stage 2, 40 series flowmaster, bosch +4Platinum plugs, bosch wires, new cap/rotor

The best lift kits for 2WD trucks that I have seen are the ones that use blocks on the rear suspension and a new steering knuckle for the front suspension that has a lowered spindle. These are available for fullsize 2 wheel drive trucks but not sure about the Dakota. Just my opinion but if you use your truck for work the stock height is easier to load and unload, plus lower center of gravity will be safer.

The 4x4 version sites either 2 or 3 inches heigher than the 2wd. The easiest way to get a lift up to that height range is either a 2 inch suspension lift or a 3 inch body lift.

apx. $175 - 2" suspension lift (2" front coils + 2" rear add-a-leafs)

apx. $210 - 3" Bodylift Kit

I'd go with the suspension lift because it gives you some more ground clearnace in addition to the 4x4 look.

Thanks guys...keep the opinions rolling in. What do ya'll recommend as far as tires go? I don't wanna pay an arm and a leg, but I want nicely rated all-terrain tires that don't have a super aggressive looking tread but will work great both on wet or dry pavement (snow grip is important). I won't be off-roading it much if any at all...being it will still be only a 2wd V6...ha. What size do you all recommend? 30's or 31's? I don't want any rubbing and if I lift it, I don't want the tires looking like my stock ones are...too friggin tiny. Thanks again,

Josh

My 03 QC SLT Plus is all stock, with fender flares. Everyone thinks it's 4x4, but nope. It has the 16x8 wheels and on/off road tires. Doesn't look low at all.
