Hello all,

A while back I posted about getting a Superchips for a V6, but could not locate the post. Anyway want to let everyone know this is a great product. Really tunes the throttle points well and definity feel the difference. This would really wake up the v8 with their displacement. Someone posted about using 89 octane in there 91 or better program if you were running a 180 thermostat, well I find that hard to take because I did this is weekend and it pings using 89 octane. My question is why would this work for someone else using the same setup and not me? I think XMR posted about this but I am not for sure...

2000 Dakota w/ 97k
Underdrive Crank Pulley
Fastman's 46mm TB
Cold air intake
180 thermostat
Bosch Platium +2 (Standard heat range)
8mm Wires w/ copper cap and rotor (M028, M026)
Amsoil throughout...

Would these plugs stand to be colder in order to run 89 octane on the 91 or better program???

You need to run 91/93 octane on the performance settings. No way to get around that. If it still pings try the performance towing program and see if that helps. It does not advance the timing as far and won't be a likely to ping as the full performance program. Try some autolite 3923 plugs to see if that helps. I haven't heard much about the bosch plugs other than the +4's don't always agree with our trucks.

I'm running the performance program and 89 gas as well and no ping runs perfect. Nice pickup and shift improvement.

Have you checked to see if you have a leak in your plenum gasket it will cause your truck to ping. Or you could have a bad sensor, it might be worth while to scan your truck to see if every thing is operating correctly. My truck runs fine on 89 octane but if I put 87 octane in it pings. I have been tempted to try the base program that uses 87 octane but I am just too happy with the way my truck runs plus my gas mileage is good enough that I don't worry about the small additional cost. 22.7 and 22.4 for the last two tankfuls.
