Can my 95 3.9L V6 Magnum tow a 1990 Lincoln Town Car
50 miles (either on the freeway or not) using U-Haul
towing equipment? The towncar is a rear wheel drive lead sled with a bigger engine than the Dak...how many thousands of miles would I be taking off the
trans by doing this?

If you think about it this car is no more heavier than the truck,so why wouldn't tow it. I personaly would do it and not think twice about it. Now if it was a Town car of the 70's,then I would think twice about it that's a "Lead Sled".

what kind of towing equipment can you rent from uhaul? I'm going to be towing my buddy's v8 S10 from texas to new jersey when he gets back from bagdad and I was hoping to find a one way trailer rental. My truck is an 01 v6 with 5spd by the way, and I think it will be smooth sailing until I get into the mountains.

so you just strapped the rear wheels on the dolly and let the front wheels roll? Did it bring the back of your truck down much? If it has to be front first I'd have to disconnect the driveshaft for a tow like the one I'm planning.

LMAO, there aren't any mountains between texas and new jersey.

You'll be able to tow the town car just fine. No problem at all.

did you flunk geography?????
the Applachians, and Berkshires in the east and an older range that now amounts to large hills ,that I cannot remember the name of, that starts in Northern Missouri and runs almost to the Gulf of New Mexico plus some highlands in Alabama and the Smoky Mountains all lie along all the major hiways between Texas and New Jersey. I have been out of high schoool since 71 and I STILL know that.

Thanks for all the input. The towncar has a
curb weight of 4040 lbs, and I wasn't sure of
the towing capacity on the truck, but I figured
that was pushing it, if a v8 has a capacity of
like 7,200 with a bigger axle.

Uhaul.com provides semi-useful info about the stuff you can rent. In my area it is $50 to
rent a trailer which keeps all 4 wheels of the
towed vehicle off the ground, so no driveshaft
worries.

Thanks!
