Subject: Power Lock & Window Switches

Hi All-

I am currently looking into putting power windows into my 97 Dak Sport Regular cab. I am getting the SPAL Power Window kit, but I want the factory switch look because I am not particulary found of the aftermarket switches.

So my question is where would I find the OEM switches for the power windows (driver and passenger sides), and the power lock switches (I have an alarm that I want to control the power locks of) passenger and driver sides?

I would also like to find the mounting/bezel that holds the switches in the door panel if possible. What has everyone else done in this situation?

Any help and suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

I had this kit installed in my truck and personally I found that buying the OEM switch package was more trouble than it was worth.

At the dealer, there were several pieces to the swith... the switch itself, the bezel, and some othe piece. Per door, I was lookin' at nearly $100 just for plastic!!!!

So I turned to the junkyards. It was hard as hell just finding Dakotas/Durangos, but when I did, the guy was askin' about $75 for the door switches... with no guarantees as to whether they would work.

So i just bit the bullet and had the SPAL switches installed in my Dak in the plastic cover plate. I must tell ya... I didn't look all that bad!

The only thing that really gives it away is that the illumination on the switches is white/amber, versus the green lights on the dash. But I can deal with that.

They work marvelously and I haven't had any problems since.

Yeah, I agree, the factory look would be great but the price is a bummer and I'm not totally sure about the compatability. I have a 2000 Quad Cab and my dealer installed power windows locks and keyless entry for me and I was under the impression at first that it would be factory stuff but wasn't and for what I paid for the parts and labor I really couldn't afford to complain because it was a DEAL!!!!! I don't like the switches they installed for me so I'm thinking of changing them for some on www.autoloc.com. They have quite a few styles of switches and I think they will pretty much work with any kits. By the way, Darkfury Did you install the switches in the factory bezel that came in your truck or did you spring for the one made for power windows? And if you have any pics of your switches I'd love to see because I have tried to find other people here to show pics because I'd love some kind of idea of how I want to do mine when I change the switches.

Yeah... my switches are mounted directly into the "cover plate" where the power switch would be if it had come from the factory like that.

I don't currently have pics of it, but maybe I will take some to show ya. (I've been gettin' alot of questions about that on my website.)

Replacing your system in 6 months???????? I've had mine 2 years and never had a problem yet.
It could go haywire tommorrow but so far I've been very satisfied and when the dealer installed them for me they said if I ever had any problems that they would take care of it as long as I would hang on to my reciept so thats not a bad deal I don't think. By the way Darkfury whats the address of your site? I'd like to check out your truck. :o)

Hey thanks Darkfury. Great looking truck. There is a pic of mine on www.truckworld.com in the offroad Dodges section, not really sure what page though. If you get some pics of the window switches let me know and maybe I'll take some of mine to compare. Theyre in the factory location too but like I had posted before I don't really like the switches so I'm thinking of changing. Also on www.autoloc.com they have a module for 30 bucks I believe, don't hold me to this.*L* That makes your windows one touch down and I was thinking of trying that out too.
