I am looking at purchasing one a retractable cover for my Quad Cab. Does anyone have one of these? Is one better than the other? Any help would be great.

My Pace Edwards rolltop cover just arrived today. I'll be installing it this w'end. I don't know a thing about "roll-n-lock" cover, but Pace Edwards is known for producing quality products (that's what prompted me to buy theirs). I'll let you know how the install goes ... I'll even take pics as I go to help anyone else on their install.

I love my Pace Edwards. I have had it installed for about 4 mos. and don't have a single complaint. Install was pretty straight forward, only took me and my pa 2.5 hours start to finish.

I have pics, but don't really know how to include them in the message. If anyone can help w/ that I will post them.

I have reviewed both systems and believe both PE and Roll n Lock produce quality covers. I have chosen to install the roll-n-lock for two reasons: 1. It installs to the truck bed w/o screws (PE can also be installed this way but it requires additional accessory kit) 2. I like Roll n Lock's design for locking the tailgate w/o a separate tailgate locking system.
Overall, I think either is a great choice. I would just prefer the ease of removal that Roll n Lock offers.

"RATTLE" is the word I used to describe both. Sooner or later parts ware out and when they do they rattle. Remeber the old hatchback cars?? When they were new, no rattle when they were old the hatch rattled on dead smooth roads. Same thing here.

I have a PE on my 98. Had it installed right after truck purchase. I haven't had any real problems with it except for some irresponsible person flicked a cigarette on it and melted 2 holes in it within the first month. The only other problem is with the lock. There is no cover over it, and in the cold months, it has a tendency to freeze there, as well as the pivets in the locking mechanism. Just keep a little lock thaw around though.

You can get a stainless steel spring-loaded cover from Pace Edwards to go over your lock. I think it was like $10. Should solve that icing up problem. Mine hasn't been in the snow and cold yet, but I think it will help.
