Has anyone torn apart the dashboard on a 2002 to get at the guages? How hard is it to install new guage faces?

From the articles I've seen around the forums, they're not too terribly difficult. A couple of screws and a couple of clips is all that it takes to get to the gauge face itself, then it's just a matter of being careful with the needles and the gauge face install. Myself and a lot of others will know in about a week ;) I'll be taking camera snapshots with my installation so I can have a visual guide put up on my website.

I was wondering if anyone can tell me what is under the dash where the dash meats the windshield. I dropped a ring in right next to the windshield and cant tell where it goes. I would like to know before I start taking things apart. It looks like there is a metal panel with foam padding that goes back from the windsheild. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If it's anything like the 2000 it's easy. Pull the dash trim carefully, it's clipped on and clips may break if pulled hard. Now you have access to the screws that hold the instrument cluster in. Remove screws and cluster pops out. Hardest part is getting the needles back on in the right place.
