Subject: Overhead Console???
IP: Logged

Message:
I went to the junkyard today, and found some interesting pieces off of a Gen 2 Dak... not sure of the year, anyways it was an overhead console convienince center, Tells me MPG, Temp., compass and dome lights, I took as much of it as possible, The console and the wiring going from it into the dash, but from there i stopped because i couldn't follow the wires to get all of it. Is there a diagram of the harness for this? Where are the sensors for the temp, compass, and MPG gauge? Any help would be appreciated... I would really like to get this to work.

By the way while I was in the donor truck (which is the same as mine just alittle newer) i grabbed a Auto-dimming mirror, It is really cool and is tied into the console. Everything works i just need to get the rest of the harness and anything else required.

My truck= 1993 Dodge Dakota Extended Cab 4x4 5.2 V8

Do you know where your temperture sensor was located??, I've
realized that the compass and everything else is already in the
computer on the overhead console.

4 wires from trip computer harness.
purple/yellow= pci bus
black= ground
pink = 12 volt power
blue/white= ignition power source
3 of the wires can be wired to data communication port under dash on drivers side.
data port reads as follows top row(l to r)1-8
bottom row(l to r) 9-16
pci to #2
ground to #4
pink to #16
hook bl/white wire to any source thhat has power with ignition on such as stereo. everything will be good to go.
thermostat was already there on my truck. it is up front on right side(pasengers side) beside lower corner of radiator. it is already wired and gets info from pci bus when hooked up. not sure for 93 dakota though. hope this helps.

that function also and wonder how it works and or where sensors
are located, i'm thinking off of the trucks computer or something
with the gauges.

everything functions off the 1 wire (pci) once that is connected that is where it gets all its information.

Okay sounds good, my question now is that my DCP is under the
passenger side of the hood. So concievably my PCI would be near
it?

easiest to use data communication port under drivers side dash like i said with the connections i said. just get some wire end connectors from auto store and shove them in the right slots which i discussed earlier. thats it.

Bah! I have one and hardly even use it. Save your money as it will probably not add a dime at trade in time.

Nevermind on that last post i held all the buttons and it went into calibration mode after holding it for a minute... So now everything works!!! Pretty neat little piece... I enjoy it and it adds a touch of class in the Gen 2 interiors
