I realize there isn't any current factory SRT Dakotas being made right now but I was wondering if anyone out there has made their own. Using similar wheels, hood scoop, spoiler, ground effects, etc. I think it would be pretty cool to have a replicated smaller version of the real deal!

I'm actually planning on doing the conversion on my 2005 Club Cab. You can make the factory SRT ground effects fit, but most need to be trimmed and the gaps filled. Also, you would need to blend in a Rumble Bee Hood scoop to the hood since no one makes custom hoods for new Dakotas yet. As for the Engine and drivetrain, I'm getting mine from the new SRT-8 line =). I'm looking into a Magnum right now, but I need to see which of the 4 SRT-8's have the interior that I like first (the SRT-8 Jeep is probably the best bet for seats, etc). It'll probably be the only HEMI powered Dakota, since Dakotas are the only V8 powered vehicle that Dodge makes without the HEMI engine. Expect to pay around $1500 for the ground effects and scoop from a dealer, and another $1000 for installation and painting. THen, if you're as crazy as I am, then you're going to need about $50k for the SRT-8 vehicle to use as the donor. Good luck!

I guess no one could ever accuse fakeness of ever thinking outside the box to make something never offered before in a certain model. Thanks for the constructive input!

i think clones are just fine.... only if they have the powerplant that goes with the model theyre cloning. never offered before?.. isnt there an srt-6 crossfire?.. putting an srt-6 emblem on your dakota would be like putting a 300m emblem on a ram. it just looks stupid, and everyone but you would think so.

why the heck would you want to ruin all the hard work you want to pour into that thing with some fake badges?... dont put anything on it, leave it blank, instead of making some retarded attempt to show the world what DC 'should' have made...

There is already an SRT10-style hood available for the Dakota/Durango, and the SRT-10 Viper wheels are the same bolt pattern.

If I manage to win the lottery I'd seriously contemplate shoving a V10 Viper engine into my truck just so I could drive it around with a big sticker on the back taunting Dodge with how they SHOULD have built the SRT-10.

Um...If you are talking about the SRT-10 ram the bolt patteren is different than the dakotas. But the SRT-10 Viper has the same bolt patteren. The ram is a 5 lug while the viper is a 6. Im not sure about the new GenIV dakotas though. I know they are 5 lug.

Oops..I just said exactly what SinCityR/T said. I didnt catch that you put SRT-10 Viper. I must have had dodge trucks on my mind.

BTW, I test fitted Viper wheels on my 1996 dakota. The front viper wheels (I think 10" wide) will fit on the back with no rubbing. But they wont fit on the front. They hit the control arm and wont even slightly slide on the studs.

I just found this this weekend. He certainly has the SRT look happening. Wonder where he got those wheels?

Well, here's an update. I previously posted about the general method to my personal SRT, but some changes have occured. The recent release of the crew cab SRT-10 has given me an idea as to the body cladding. The side cladding is now being modified to fit my truck (to give it the SRT bodykit look that the Ram has) and a hood scoop is being modified. Its a stock Rumblebee scoop narrowed down a bit to fit the body lines a little better. As for the front and rear bumpers, I'm just using the lower bumper valances that the SRT has and cutting them to fit my truck. I haven't yet decided if I'm going to change the paint color, or leave it the stock patriot blue, still thinking. I'm still researching the engine choices though, and i'm inclined to stick with my V6 for a while, until I see results of a supercharger or turbocharger that works. More later.
