Subject: SS Speed grille valance install
IP: Logged

Message:
I purchased the lower valance kit for my '01 dak and I am trying to get install it. There isnt enough room for me to get my hands between the valance and the radiator to put on the clips. Plus I would have no way to put clips on the last insert. I cannot go up from under the valance unless I remove the pastic engine shield, which I dont want to do unless I have to. If you installed this kit on an '01 or '02 Dak, can you tell me how you did it?

Thanks

I pre-installed the clips into the lower valence. Slip them on without the grilles, and pull up on each clip so that the teeth on the back side of the valence dig in. Now you can slowly push on each grille. If the clip doesn't want to easily let the grille snap into place, use a flat-bladed screwdriver and push it through the grille, use it to pry up the clip just high enough to let the grille slip past.

You can also remove the top front bumper cover bolts, then ease the cover down some to get the necessary clearance to install.

One comment on SinCity's post. Instead of a screwdriver, I used an old blade-type feeler guage to slip under the clips. It was thinner and wider and made getting the clips on without scratching the crap out of the paint easier.
