When I bouht my Dakota from a one owner guy he had lowered it. well it is mine now and what he had done to it was put Western Chasis drop spindels and hangers in the back that gave me a 3-4. The best part is he put some Doetech racing shocks under there. wheew let me tell you I have never drove a truck that handels like this one. She just squats through a turn. I am real impressed. Go like this and you will not be disatisfied at all.

I dont think he used a spindle, because there is no spindles made for our trucks. the only way to do a 3" drop in the front, is to do a 3" spring or a 2" lower controll arm and a 1" sring.

I have the western chassis 4/6 kit (2" controll arm and 2" spring) with the dochtec shocks. I know what you mean, the truck out corners a lot of sports cars.

I have a 98 sport, 4cyl 5sp. I used Chassis tech 2" dropped lower control arms, stage II upper control arms, and a 2" drop spring up front. With all of that, the camber and alignment is dead on. In the back end I used 4" drop hangers and a pinion shim. I would suggest buying new ball joints right away when you put the new control arms on, they are not easy to get off of the old ones. I also notched the frame 2 inches. I did a lot of trimming here and there. The truck rides like a dream, I can get in and out of anywhere and I don't ever bottom out. Right now I have the factory 15x7's with 235/60R 15 tires. I am getting ready to throw 17x8's with 245/45ZR17's on it. That will keep the same o.d. and I won't rub fender wells. I put a lot of time in to doing it right and it has paid off. I don't have e-mail. Post questions here and I will answer.

Can anyone confirm/correct wheel dimensions below: Stock 16x8/4.5 backspacing. R/T wheels 17x9/5.0 backspacing? Will 18x8.5/4.5 backspacing fit? I'm planning a Chassis Tech 2/4 drop or Chassis Tech 2" contol arm in the front with a someone elses 3" spring in the back. I want to maintain the ride quality and I'm not crazy about the rear hanger mods on the back. Any thoughts?

Eric,
The 4/4 drop looks real good. I have just a little bit of rake, just enough where I can put some stuff in the back and it won't drag. I am interested in your wheels. What style and how much?
