I'm looking for a hot rod look for my truck. Right now I have a 3-5 drop, and the next step is new wheels and tires.

I've been looking into a smaller front wheel - probably in the area of 16 x 6, and a much larger one in the back to angle the truck slightly. What's the widest wheel anyone has run in the back? I know the R/T comes with a 9" wide wheel, but I am looking for even more, perhaps around 11 - 12".

Has anyone done anything like this or does anyone have pictures of someone who has done it on a reg cab short bed? I'd like to see some examples before I do something I won't like in the end.

if u want 11-12" wheels in the back, i hope you're planning on tubbing the HELL outta the rear end!! or else they're gonna stick out ALOT and look weird!
I don't know if u have to go that drastic to get the hot-rod look...i guess it depends on how authentic you're lookin to go. but, i'm kinda trying to go for that look too; with about a 5" drop (still alittle raked cuz i have bigger tires in the back), 18's, shaved with a dark paint. i think i got the look pretty good; it gets some compliments at the local track.(it looks likes it could be fast...but its not:(
what i'm saying is to make it a bit easier and more practical, u can go with the same rims front and back, but just put bigger tires in back.
hope this helps a little...peace

I run 275/45/17s all the way around and I think it comes in around 11". No point in having rims that wide. Most drag wheels aren't even that wide. Get some R/T wheels and put like 275 in the front and like 295 in the back.

Oops, I run 275/40/17 all the way around (sig). I will probably be going a bit wider in the rear, but I really like how the truck tracks on stickier tires.

A 16x6 up front would look horrid (IMHO of course), it's not a dragster and would be borderline rice. Wide tires all the way around give it a much more aggressive look. When you clock your wheels to turn and you still have some tire hiding in the fender, it looks damn mean. More of a road track look, but looks good.

viper wheels 11 inches wide (or is it 10) off the front. they do make 13" wheels for autoxing.

I have never seen a 13" wide wheel on anything other than a Viper for autox, and that's only on the rear. Many guys on the Viper boards convert over to 10"s all the way around anyways.

Tub it and pretend you're pro stock!

I am failing to see where the point in really wide rims is going?

6" wide up front and 12" wide out back would look like trash and handle kind-of funky.

There is a Dakota RT with 18x13 wheels on the rear. Fits under the flares also. They are made by CC Wheels with 8.5" of backspacing if I remember right. The tire comes to .5" from the leaf, and runs 335 series tires.
