Hi Im going to get my truck lowered in a couple months and have been checking out prices, I found a place that will lower it 3 in the front and 5 in the back for 1100 thats including the kit. This sounds a bit High what do you guys think I have a 2000 dodge Dakota ext cab 3.9L. Also anyone know a good exhaust system for this truck and and hieght. I have a friend who is mechanically inclined but he does not own air wrenches or any high tech stuff like that can lowering the truck be done with out those kind of tools. Any input would be great
thanks

It depends on how they are lowering the truck. Is labor included? If they are doing it properly $1100 is not bad. Know what parts are involved.

In the front: Dropped Spindles? Shorter Coils? Shocks? New bump stops? Note: Don't let them cut off your coils to make them shorter.

In the rear: Dearched Leaf Springs? Hangers? Blocks? Shocks? New Bump Stops?

Is the alignment included? You will need one after. If you are doing it yourself, it can be done without an air wrench, but lots of torque needs to be applied.

As for exhaust, beauty is in the ear of the beholder. All the major companies make them it depends on what sound you want. I have heard the stock system is not very restrictive so don't expect great power gains just from the exhaust.

i agree with marks DQC, see what parts you are getting. pay extra for quallity parts and someone that knows how to install them.

this is the kit i got for around $520 (that is the price 2 yrs agao. scence then its gone up a little)

-2" lowered A-arms with eurothane bump stops(spindals are not available for 97-01 daks)
-2" lowered springs
-3" hangers
-2" shackles
-1" block
- c-notch with eurothane bumpstops
-4 dochtech shocks

master image custom (the world wide leader in custom suspencion systmes) did the install for $350

i am VERRY happy with the kit. it rides almost like stock (the 35 series tire firms up the ride a little, but its not at all harsh)

I'd go with "kota on 20's" advice for lowering parts. I've got a '95 which I've dropped to different levels with just about everything on the market. Spindles are good for the front if you only want to go 2". However, if you want to slam it, the dropped spindles tend to put your body too close to the rim level which means if you still have the factory 15" rims and you get a flat, say goodbye to your lower A-arm.

I'm considering dropping my 2000 ranger about 2 inches. I don't like having all the wheelwell room . I have 17's on it now. will these rub after dropping? also, what will I expect to pay to have this done professionally, including labor. thanks.
