Subject: Painting a Stillen Bumper

Message:
I took my Stillen Bumpeer to a shop today and was told that it couldn't be painted because of the way the bumpers made. That the paint would chip instantly on the truck. ANybody have this problem with the Stillen bumpers? What was the solution?

first....... take it to someone else. If they can't figure out how to paint it........They probably still paint with laquer thats lead based. Its really not hard to paint the front. The instructions should have the right primer labeled and use a erithane paint. also make sure you mount the bumper so nothing flexes and you'll be good as gold. Flexing is another way the paint chipes off

Think about it...... your bottom valance is made of the same stuff as your new bumper cover and the paint stays on it! Sounds like the shop doesn't have a clue

I think Pappie1 is right. Take your bumper to another shop. I had mine painted and they told me before I mentioned flext agent in the paint, we have to add a flex agent for the bumper which is standard all of todays bumpers. Make sure that they prep the bumper before they paint it. Actually you can prep it yourself. Comet, scotchbrite pad and warm water.

You went to the wrong painter! I have had mine for a while, and I can't believe someone told you that crap. It's a simple job.... find a real painter!
