I have a 1999 reg cab 2wd dakota at stock stance. ANd i am ready to buy rims. I was about to buy 20s and 275/45/20 tires. but i heard that they might rub. Did anyone put these on the same truck as mine and did they rub. Now i am thinking about getting 18's with 255/45/18 tires. What do you think i should do?

I can't say for sure, but i can give you some numbers that might help. 275/45/20 tires will have a 29.74" diameter (looking at it mounted, tread to tread high) and will be roughly 10.8" wide. Rim width matters for exact width, but to find both of these out, divide the first number (275) by 25.4 to convert milimeters to inches, there is your width in inches, then multiply that number by the decimal of the second number (.45) because the second number is a percentage of the first, and that will tell you the sidewall height. Multiply that by 2 because the overall diameter has two sidewalls and add the rim size, and there is overall diameter. Here is a pic of mine with stock R/T 17's, with 275/55/17 tires and a DJM 2"/3" drop, this setup rubs!, so i plan to go to 275/45 or 275/40 when these tires die: http://www.geocities.com/pmcguff/PICS/RT1.JPG
oh, this setup is 28.9" in diameter, only slightly less than your 275/45/20, and i have a lowered R/T.
Hope this helps you out.
Patrick.
