Subject: SS Gen Bumper Cover Install Problems
IP: Logged

Message:
I checked the archives and couldn't find a thread where someone else had the same problem I am. I am not even sure if anyone else has installed a SS Gen 2 bumper cover over an 01+ Sport bumper or not or only had the two piece bumper where removing the lower fascia was easier.

I installed one on my 02 Sport yesterday and removed the two outside slats in the factory air dam, leaving the center one. My issue is that the cover slides all the way around bumper, I have two screws on each side holding it secure there but the driver side of bumper will not press tight and stay against the bumper so that the fog light hole is tight to fog light instead of an an inch gap I have now. The passanger side is fine and where it is supposed to be. Is the SS Air dam supposed to in front of the factory air dam or inside of it?

Help would be appreciated, it's a PITA getting the cover on/off by myself and trying to be careful not to scratch it as well keep flexing it and causing paint problems later on. So I would like to only have to take it off one more time if needed to get it fitted right.

My SS grill shell/insert went on pretty easy although the grill fitament could have been better even after some fitting/sanding to the best I could get it without taking too much off. There is a small gap where the grill bolts to hood on again... the driver side. Maybe it's a SS driver side thing? lol. Glad I can laugh about $600 in parts/painting that don't fit right.

My wives 4x4 Dak on 18's looks sweet though, the Lund stick-on scoops even look better with the new grill and bumper cover.

Thanks, Bob.
