Had a question about tire sizes! I want to go 255 50 17 for my R/T rims! Will going to a 50 series tire make the tire width decrease also!

On my old 96 dak I had 235 60 15 in the front and I had 255 60 15's in the back and the sidewall was about an inch bigger than the front wheels!

Will I or should I go to like a 265 50 17 !?!?

I'm rubbing on big bumps on the fender flares and dont wanna raise it back up an inch! Thanks

The reason your rear tires had a larger sidewall on your old truck was becase of the 60 series tire. What i mean is this (metric size tires): the first # (255) is in mm and is the width of the tire. The second # is the percentage ratio (60% of the 255mm). And of course the last # is the rim diameter. So if you take 60% of the front tire (235mm) vs. the same (60%) of the rear tire (255mm) the rear tire will have a thicker sidewall. Hope this helps.

will 275-60-17 look good on my 98 dakota sport V6? i thought i would use this size because my suspension is not as low as an r/t therefore the wheel wells could be filled in to look like its lowered. will these tires stick out on my truck, i do have the r/t fender flares????

thanks Mike
