Subject: keeping the shine...

Okay so I washed my truck, polished it twice then laid two coats of wax on. She's looking great, I love it. This is the first time I've used polish and it brought the color out a bunch. Anyhow so what is the minimal amount of waxing I can do to keeep it maintained?

I was thinking wash it with mild car wash soap every other weekend then wax it every 2 months. Is this enough? I want to keep the wax on there so the polish doesn't become vulnerable and wear off. If I could I would be out there every weekend washing and waxing the truck but my wife has me backed up on honey-do's for 9 to 12 years : o )

Thanks!

also is that spray detail mist worth a crap or just a gimmic? I picked up a bottle of meguires but haven't tried it yet. maybe after I wash it next I'll go over it with it, anything to help preserve the finish. I still am amazed at how well polish helps to deepen the color. My r/t is black so it helps a ton. BTW I used meguirs showtime polish and meguirs gold class wax, love them both.

Personally I have tried alot of detailers, and I found this one.........its called Finish Fast. I think at most swap meets they have it on display. Ill see if I can find it online. My father who used to own a body shop and is a car nut as well, found the stuff to be awesome and he swears by it now. We have been using it for probably 6 years or so now. It works great just to bring out the shine or to wipe it down if there is any spotting after a wash and dry. Chris

this is great, I'd like to find something that preserves it man I'd MUCH rather wash then spray down the truck with something like this than wax it every few weeks. I have a random orbital buffer but I hate it so I've been doing it by hand, so yeah something like this looks pretty solid. Hey off topic but my brother is named chris ellan.

thanks man,
