I just learned that LEDtronics, http://www.ledtronics.com, are developing a truly-omnidirectional LED lamp for automotive applications. Currently, they have a design that combines front-firing with radial-firing LEDS in one unit, but that still doesn't fully utilize the well-designed reflectors in modern vehicles; and that results in dimmer-than-stock lights.

I took out my leds for that very reason. VERY dim!! Only way you could tell the brake was on , was the third brake light!! In the day time ..forget it , looked like I had no brake lights!! Good to hear better ones are on the way!! Thanks for the info!!
