I have a 97 dakota, black, regular cab with a 318 and a 5 speed... its pretty fast as it is.. its got flowmaster exhaust which sounds awesome and i have a K&N filter... What i was wondering is if the stock air box/cleaner is too restrictive... i've heard many different things.. anyone know for sure? i can already dust R/T's... but now i want my buddies 5.0 under my belt any tips out there that would help? I would definately appreciate it.. thanks

If you dont have a intake system definatly go with that. It helps alot over the stock air box. Also 180 Tstat will help it dosent really give you any power but makes your motor run coolerand more efficient, and for $10 what the heck. Spark plugs and wires will help too.

try a jetchip, they do make a differnce.THey claim 15 at the rear wheels. I also have the headers and a flowmaster system on mine which i could not tell you how much of a differnce they make cause i bought the truck used with them on there but it is damb fast. I but the 180 stat and did not notice a differnce but for ten dollars i couldn't hurt? If you want to spend some buck i've heard the crower roller cams are awsome. about 500-600 for the 5.2. Go for the K&N it should be worth it plus its warented for life and they keep there word

swap that intake dude. the barrell intakes kill hp like woah. i'm goin with an mpi dual plane. same intake as on the 385 crate engine. then get a cam and computer stuff. you'd be killin ppl.

buddy you and me are exactly the same. Look on page four of the forum. you will see your truck I don't know if your is lowered or not. Buddy I have had real good luck with my FIPK from K&N. It is an intake in general. But this one is the best that you can buy and it whistles like a turbo. Get that and a 180 thermo. I have the 3.92 gears in mine. lets say that i have the fastest truck in town until somebody gets a d@#! Lightining!!!!!!!!!!!! The thing that helped out mine the most was the saleen racing shocks!!! It bytes really hard off of the line. I have not beat a stang in a qaurter but I have him off of the line like a B#@!#!!!!!!!!

The first question you should ask yourself is how much do plan on spending in the end. And then and only then start buying stuff. If want your truck to look like a magazine truck expect to spend well over 50k. For the average joe plan on spending about 2000 to 13000k. Set realistic goals for yourself.

I pesonaly want a very fast steetable truck however, I know it will not be anytime soon. Baby steps

well marc.. i've already got a cat back exhaust and over $1500 in stereo equip. in my regular cab.. and it pounds.. as soon as i get my computer fixed (i'm usng my moms) i'll send some pics in..
