Message:
Has anyone tried to add the compass and thermometer to a Dakota that was not ordered with the power overhead console. My truck has the slot still covered with the ever so usefull “CLIP”. I don’t know if the wired it and just did not install the goods or if I would have to remove the headliner and run all the wires. Is it possible and relitavle inexpensive?

Is the overhead console just a thermometer and compass, or is there more to it?

The package deal comes with the home link and a few other goodies and the computer. But it looks as if they have designed it so you can remove the clip and add just the coputer part in. The computer also has fuel stuff... but all I really want to add in is the thermometer and compass.

I recently purchased a 2003 quad cab. It’s fully loaded but didn’t come with the elusive overhead computer. After reading most of the postings. I was able to obtain an overhead computer on Ebay. I’m interested in hardwiring the overhead computer. The only option in the computer that I am interested in is the compass and outside temperature sensor. The computer I have has four wires attached to it. I know that one wire is the constant power, the second is ground and the third is the ignition power. I’m not sure what the forth is I’m assuming it the Outside temp reading. I got the compass to work but cant figure out how to get the outside temp to work. My truck came with a senor for outside temp. The senor has two wire going into it. How can I hardwire my over head computer so that my outside temp works. Also does anybody know what PCI bus stands for, and were can I find it in my truck. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Should be expected from a novice, I guess it’s one of those life lessons. Just don’t do it again. For those experienced member, maybe you should try instructing the newby’s instead of talking like a complete jerk. The reason he posted to every forum was to hit different members that were only in that particular forum. So big deal you happen to be the idiot who was in every forum and got a bunch of response emails. If you had half a brain you would look it up in alldata. If you got frustration to take out do it like you always do. with your wife or your mother or try aol it’s got a lot of idiots like yourself you might enjoy. Just go into members room title jerks or inbreeds you might like it. As far as the installation is concerned. I did a similar conversion in my 2002 pickup. I’ll send you what I have. Have a bless day and may God be with you.

Can anyone hook this up? I take it you would need the sensor for the temp but what about the fuel mpg and stuff like that? Also are the computers from say caravans, intrepeds the same?
Thanks
