how about u have the shop meter them before tinting them? they should have one of the uv-meters used for inspections that way u wont get it messed up...

Tinted the front door windows with 20% on a '98 Dak-CC... the dak is white and has the black strip between the front/rear windows.. 20% is almost a perfect match with the factory on the rear..
a buddy just did the fronts of his black '03 durango sport with 15% and it looks close.

Check your local law or go to A tint shop in your area and find out for sure.
In Tenn. it is 35% for cars, and 35% on front door windows and dark as you want on other windows for trucks, vans, and SUV's. It will vary from state to state.

you all are so dumb, 35% is stock and hey buddy if your friend is a cop he should have told you that the tint only matters on the brow and on anything in front of the b piller... thats why they have tint lines and such... 35% is what they come with... in most states the fine is only 25 bucks some will make you peel it off, that is if they are dicks... do what ever you want though... i tinted my own and i did 15 alll around even on top of the factory and it looks sharp

Stock is 35%, but is built in. 20% will match good from the outside.

I have mine done 5% all the way around. It looks great and I have yet to get hassled for it from the cops in the year and a half I've had it on. I guess they don't really care much down here. It is kind of a pain at night though. You can't really see that well out the sides and back.

yeah mines at 5% too and i havent been bothered; it does suk at night but it is so worth it to go that dark; if you can get a tint shop to do it for you, they give you a certificate of approval and you can get out of any ticket/fine (i did mine, hell with payin for a simple job)

Stock 1/4 windows on the CC are 20% and match perfectly from inside or out. Just had mine done and checked with tint meter. As far as tint laws, you can have any window behind the driver tinted as dark as you want. It coudl be painted solid black if desired. So tweaked, your buddy cop is as much of a moron as you.

I live in NC my bestfriend is a Highway Patrol man he metered my factory tint it is 20% I had the rear window tinted 5% and the fronts 35%. Front is comming off and 20% is going on plus a 5% brow! hope that helps!

i put a layer of 20 all the way around. the back works out to about 5%. its great. the back is a bit hard to see out of when backing up at night, but i just open the sliding window if i have to.

Has anybody had to get an inspection since putting their tint on? I have 25% tint on the side two (reg cab) and the legal limit is 35%, i'm not sure if i'll pass inspection.

i put 5% on the CC windows and rear slider over the factory smoked windows, ends up working out to like 1.5% tint, unless your nose is against the window, you cant see in. mine passed inspection but we know they guy at the garage so i guess he wasnt looking. find a garage that you either know someone or have gone to before.....

the stock tint on an x-cab dakota is 20% in nc you can have minimum 32% on the dr. and pass. windows, unless you've got a buddy that will inspect it for you. put whatever you want, then roll your windows down when you go to be inspected. all the rear is exempt from inspection and the brow can't be over 5" long, so your factory tint on the windshield is longer than the film can legally be anyway. why squint when you can tint?

Hey, i live in IL, and i wanna get all my windows done, i guess only Factory tints (30-35%) r legal here 4 the front windows, but i dont even how dark that is, if its not dark at all, then i dont wanna waste money gettin em done...sum1 please explain this 2 me

all you guys with dark tint that havent got in trouble suck. mine was tinted when i bought it and i never got around to taking it off or changing it. in kansas at least, they will write you a ticket if its darker than 35%. mine was 13% according to the meter. my court date is may 27. @%$@*! cop. oh yeah, i have black eagle talon tsi, (yes its a dakota board but i am going to buy one as soon as i can because they kick ass). the junky ford pickup that was passing me in the right lane didn't get pulled over. you probably don't care but the ticket was for 63 in a 45 work zone. i was just going with the flow of traffic. i'm sure he just pulled me over because of my car and the tinted windows.

35% is not very dark. I have 5% on mine and it looks great. I'm not sure how the cops are in your area about dark tint, but they don't seem to care here. I've had mine that way for almost 2 years and I've never been pulled over for it.

I don't know what the tint laws are but i'm in california and i have the 5% all the way around except for the front windshield, that ones tinted at 20%.

speaking of tint has anyone purchased pre-cut tint? I've seen a few go for our trucks on ebay and the guys that I looked at had great feedback specifically relating to their pre-cut deals. What do you guys think?

Recently had the Dak done at "tintworld", they use a computer, select the vehicle, and it precuts the tint to a pattern that fits each window nicely.
Looks really good, much better that the job done on my last several vehicles. In South Florida the first thing we do is take the car to the tint shop.
