Subject: Painted Bug Shield
IP: Logged

Message:
I'm looking for a bug shield w/ brows that match my 02 Dakota QC. Dodge dealer carries them for the new Rams but not for the Dakotas.

Anyone point me in the right direction? (did search on the board already)

Thanks,
ALA DAK

The only clear paintable set I know of is made by Lund, they make a clear bug shield and brows for our Daks called the Interceptor. I bought just the hood protector and painted it from the backside with Mopar Paint, looks great and is barely even noticeable until you are up close although it is tall enough to cover up the Dodge Emblem on hood from the front view. I bought mine through www.truckaddons.com as they price match with any other website if you give them the web address.

2THEXTRM,

How much was it to do it yourself?

I noticed truckaddons.com had a paint option which was $160 total for both the bug shield and paint to match option.

Thanks,
ALA

Costs around $75 for all three pieces and $6.50 for paint:) Just clean the backside of shields real good with windex and a lint free cloth before painting. I'd say the $90 in savings is well worth the effort in this instance, hell I'll get'em, paint'em and ship them too you for $125 lol, save you almost $40!

IMO, just do it take your time and do it yourself, they are charging way to much for a convenience.
