 Subject: making your own steel rollpan?

see alot of trucks lately with rollpans that they have made.i have access to a shop,and have enough skills to make one i think.i wanted to buy,but if its not that hard to do(make own),
i might try to tackle it.any suggestions?
anyone made their own? steel?

NS performance! $130 for a steel rollpan is
much easier than making one. IMO but if you
can make a mold and mass produce, do it!
looks like you've started a hit business : )

I made one for my buddies s-10. It was just a smooth rollpan... nothin fancy. made a templet block from his truck and rolled some 301 steel to fit. Not hard at all. Its the box for the liecense plate thats tricky. But material cost+ time to make compare to buying one isn't that much less unless you plan on mass producing. Steel comes in a 4'x 8' sheet and most steel companies charge to cut it down to ...say.... a rool pan size.
but If you got the time and the metal go for it. worst that could happen is you end up buying one:) .... besides ..... its a good skill have... metal working that is
BTW your gonna need a good size roller to roll steel.

i was going to make one but was worried that i wasnt going to be able to match the flame red paint. does any steel rollpan companies offer prep. and painted? how much am i looking at?

as far as i know the metal is raw steel.you or the body shop has to prep and paint.the steel you make one out of should be ok.i made a custom wing out of a raw piece of steel,and painted myself.its fine.
