Just recently did this. The wheel will fit, as in same bolt pattern. But the problem you will find is that turning the front wheels will cause the wheels to scrape a nut on the braking system. There must be a smaller nut on the calipers for the Gen III Dak's.

What I did was took an old rotor and cut just the hub, where the lugnuts go through and used that as a spacer. Now the wheels hit the outer fender flare, but it's better to rub on plastic then metal.

Hope this helps
Dan

I have had 98, 15X8 wheels on my '95 for 4 years now. 9298 is right; the bolt scrapes the inside of the wheel. My solution was to cut the bolthead by 1/8 inch at an angle, which works (you have to experiment a little here). I'm using 31X10.5 tires and they rubbed the air dam. An angle cut at this point, smoothed and blended, stopped the rub. There is still sufficient metal on the bolthead to remove it if necessary, but you can buy two bolts (for the front wheels only) with smaller heads if you so choose.

I tried the rims out today. there doesnt seem to be enough clearance between the rim and the upper A-arm. Also the bearing dust cap sticks out where the center cap goes. I think i may just sell the rims, it shouldnt be too hard to make my money back on them.

with the problems you have sounds like you have R/T rims but they didn't come out till 98? I put R/T rims on my 95 and had the same issues here is what I did to fix it you will have clearance issues on the inside of the rim A-arm area and the
spindle length

To fix the rim clearnce issue I had to grind about 1/4 inch along the entire
top of the A arm to the width of the Rim
Remember that when the truck is on the ground the A arms go up so if it
appears it has enough clearance when you have it on jacks it might not be
enough. to truly check you have to install the wheel take truck of the jack
and compress the shock to make the A arm go up. (compress the shock by
pushing on the fender down) With The R/T rims i also have rubbing on the
frame when turning full lock to lock. It rubs on the plastic inner fender
protector. I think it is well worth it .

To fix the dust cap thing remove rim/dustcap push the cotter pin out of the
way grind down the spindle until you are about 1/8 inch from the holes where
the cotter pin goes through put the dust cap back on pound it down flat with
a hammer

I know this all sounds barbaric but i got all this info from a Mechanic who
owns a 92 with R/T rims who said the A arms will be fine and grinding down
the spindle is OK

Thanks Darryl, i wish they where R/T rims...they are 15x8 split spoke type of rims powder coated silver. I will definately check it out this weekend! I am ready to get the 5-star rims that came with the mark III package off. I am also thinking of taking off the ground effects (or whatever you want to call them) it kind of makes it look like a "grandpa truck" LOL

grandpa truck 4 sure I really don't like that mark 3 package.
You probably don't have to do as much grinding on the Upper A-arm that I did since your rims aren't as wide.
have fun grinding
I wore out a disc on my grinder when I did mine :-)

About the only thing i like about the markIII package is the leather seat and the overhead console...the clear bugshield is o.k. but the rest has got to go!
by the way darryl, how much drop do you have on your dak. your dak looks looks good the way it sits. thanks for the info too!
