hey i got a durango, but i was wondering if any of you guys on the board have shaved handles, all my doors are shaved with relays but no actualy pistol poppers i have them, but im not sure where to install. hoping some of you guys can give me some feedback on where to install the poppers on the door, they are about 2 1/2 inches fully compressed, with about 2 inches of that being behind the actual mounting surface.

DAMMIT! I just wrote a long message, and it got f*kd up.
OK. Well, it sounds nice! I wish i had 2 more doors to shave:) I just did this to my Dakota. u will LOVE it with the poppers. u wont have to sit there & catch the door when it opens. I don't know if the durango is diff than my truck, but in kotas there's no room for the poppers on the pillars, so i put them in the doors: on the handle end on the inside edge of the doors, about 2 INCHES ABOVE THE LATCHES, right under some little rubber plug-things. The popper pushes against the pillar. I had to take the door panel off the first door to make sure there was nothing in the way inside the door; then, didn't have to take the 2nd off. It's really easy once u know where to put em.
Hmmm...I wonder if u can put em at the front of the door, in front of the door panel?? dont know if that'd work.??
But, i dont know how hurried u are, but i should be able to get some good pics in a few days, if someone else cant. Let me know. Hope this helps.

im not in any hurry, i dont mind having to catch the door at the moment. im would think the front 2 doors on the durango would be the same as the doors on the dakota. a cruz can you elaborate on that. im kinda of confuse cuz im thinking towards the non-opening end of the door, and im wondering i did put it all the way towards the inside would the poppers have enough force to open the door with that kind of leverage.

That's right, they are on the non-opening end. I only have the 15 lb poppers and they open the door just fine unless I'm parked on a steep incline, then the uphill side you have to grab the edge of the door. I would go with bigger ones if I were you. The best place would probably be down on the opposite side of where mine are, on the bottom, where the edge of the door closes.

DON"T DO IT

i got a 96 all shaved doors, antana, wiper cowl, tailgate, frony bumper, and drivers side wiper. and although it look really bad ass, your going to run into problems. Everyone i know that has done it regrets it. but if you do go ahead and shave it don't be pissed when you'r locked out of your truck because the batteries in your remote dies, or the momentary switch burns out!!!

Shaved handels are no problem as long as you do it right (like anything else.) I have had shaved handels on all my cars with no problems. 1st and formost you sholud always have a manual trigger hidden somewere on the car. It can become a lttle time consuming making linkage, but better safe than sorry. Second when you think that your remote is getting low on batteries (when you have to be closer than ordinary for it to trigger), change them dont wait for the remote to stop completly working. Last but not least, dont buy low quality poppers, there is a reason they are not expensive. I also always use the biggest popper I can dind at the time. I know it is a bit overkill, but it helps me sleep at night. If you are concerned about the door warping, put a steel reinforcment were it pushes on the door. Hell even a chunk of rubber, if you dont want to do much fabrication.

Why buy what you can make
