I am looking for clear tailights for my '87 Dakota. I've looked all over the Internet and can't find them anywhere. I have also checked magazines, such as, Mini Truckin', Truckin', and StreetTrucks and and none of them have them. Does anyone know where I can get some? Any help is appreciated. Thanx.

I think we are out in the cold on this one, I have a 95 and have also looked everywhere for any mods for my Dak with minimal results. The only mods are for 97 and newer Daks when it comes to clear/euro lenses.

One prob for Chris. No one makes them. I have a 1990 and have also had no luck. Gen I daks simply did not seel enough to make a big impact on the aftermarket. Our choices are limited. But keep looken and if you succede, please let us know. Good Luck

Just for the record, I have never found clear tails for genI or II bodies. Or grille inserts... Or white-faced guages... what's up with that?

What I have been told buy aftermarket people is that there are simply not enough Gen I and II Daks out there to make it worth while to make anything for. Obviously there are more GenII than Gen I so you can find alittle more stuff but Dakotas only became really popular since the Gen III. It sucks, trust me I know, I have a 1990 Dak and Have a terrible time finding anything for it. Good Luck

I have read in Sport Truck that APC is currently tooling them for us. I have hounded these guys for the last three months. I have been told that they are to have a HUGE new product launch come mid-January. I have a '90 2WD Convertible and have been absolutely disgusted in the piss poor attitude of people in general concerning my efforts. I live in Nashville TN, and had the guys at Hunter's pretty much laugh me out of their shop. If anyone needs some links for replacement tops, I can hook you up. My truck has been in the shop for teh last four months, and anticipate her intruduction in late Feb. God Bless!

I don't think it will fit because of the different
headlights on the Gen 2. They are more
rectanguar and ours are more squared. You
might be able to do it with some
modifications, though. Good Luck.

Hey brent i have an 89 and was thinking of doing the same thing and i know that you will have to replace the metal behind the grill also(it's more rounded) along with the hood and probably the bumper for it to look right. I believe the fenders are the same but i'm not positive.

Hey you guys.... in order to put a gen2 grill on a gen1 what you have to do is go to the junk yard and see if your lucky enough to find a radiator core support on a gen 2 with the aero headlight package (composite lamps not sealed beams) and buy that... then your truck is fully compatible with the front end off a gen2...

its a big mod but i looked into it with my gen 2 when i had to hunt and search for a new core support after my truck got wrecked.
