I lay crossmember in the front & the frame flat out on the ground.

215/35/r20's

they are 20x9, i've had them cut from a blank pattern & milled so that I could get them to fit without rub, but it's not a big deal. (& that's because of width, not height)

i don't understand all of these guys acting like it's a big deal to have 22's, most of them, it sounds like, aren't even lowered.. . on a dakota 2 or 3 inches ain't sh1t... the fender wells are so fricking big, unless you'r bagged on at least 20's it doesn't really even look low.

I don't have my cab body dropped, but the bed is and it's tubbed.. it will clear 20's just fine on a 4.5" body drop. I haven't decided if i am going to do the cab, but it would clear the wheels that's for sure.

To lay frame, I've got my inner fender wells removed in the front (you wouldn't have to take them all the way out, but some cutting would be required) Then I've relocated my computer, intake, battery, & fuse panel just so the tires won't rub anything when it's all the way down and dragging.

Any questions let me know. Check the truck out on my club's site... www.CreativeConceptsCC.com

- Good luck, YOU CAN DO IT!
Kyle

p.s. 22's or 24's (in my opinion) won't look good unless it is SLAMMED... it just make the truck sit toooo hi

TO LAY OUT ON 22'S...

you'll probably need a 10" notch in the rear to lay 22's & you will have to notch the frame up front if you want to keep the sway bar.. plus, the lower control arm will hit the frame first, so you will have to notch somthing there too. I've got tubular lower control arms & stock uppers... It just barley makes it on mine (that's with 20's)

It has been done though, I beleive there is a Dakota in Severed Ties that lays on 22's..

not layin frame on 22s, but i do have a 2/4 drop. i was able to do this with very little modification but if you wanted to go any lower than that, it would burn a deep hole in your pocket. click on my thumbnail for a pic

can't lose on 22s

"big rims are like chicks wearing thongs. anyone can put them on but it doesnt mean it looks good."

lol, im not a huge fan of escalades and hummers on 26's. its too flashy for me. but whatever floats your boat.

and his question was not about laying out on 22's it was about just having them...

What's the point in haven' 'em if you're not layin' it out?
anyway, just trying to prove a point about clearance...
- so basically i agree with you. big rims and small tires arn't a good combo if there is a big wheel well gap, or even alot of ground clearnace. it kinda looks ghetto. but, diffrent strokes for diffrent folks. a lot of people think my dakota's ugly... but i'm proud of it.
check it out for yourself.
