10 dollar 12 in. neon tube at walmart...
cut the cigarette lighter adaper off and connect one of the wires to the power and the other to the ground on my amp, this way it will cut on or off with my amp.
will it work?

In my opinion.. Bad idea!
Don't cut wires... just splice into them. That way your 12v power supply is stil there.
Just my opinion though!

Well... I agree in the sence that I wouldn't put neon (IN the cab) of my pickup.
But we all have our own preference... so if you like the idea, go with it!

you were close, i'm 18. definitely not a moron either, you don't take advanced courses and graduate in the top 5% of your class with a 4.0 and be stupid. don't post a smart remark to this because it's not necessary, fact is fact.
it's my truck, what does it matter what i do to it?
besides, a sub pumping with a neon light on it at night looks awesome

that shut his stupid a$$ up...metal, yes!!!...I love metal...I got addicted while I was in Texas(Kinda odd)...we went to see Kittie play at club Oz (Pimpdaddy don should know what I'm talkin about) and their opening acts where NONPOINT, Drowning Pool(Before they got big), Kritikial, and Factory 81...sickest pit I've ever been in...also seen Mudvayne, Slipnot, and Slaves on Dope at the same club...brutal

Personally Don, I'd just take and "open up the wires" (just cut the insulation around the wires, without actually cutting the wire) wrap the "new" wire that's going to be running your light around the exposed wire. And solder the wires in place.
That way your 12v power supply is still functional!
If this is unclear, let me know! I'll try to exlain it better :)

Lesley- I've been coming here since I got my dak in Feb, I'm not completely new lol
born- I'm not so much into the mall metal Korn type stuff as I am what's called "hardcore" or "metalcore" bands like Earth Crisis (who was on Ozzfest last year I think) Agnostic Front, Hatebreed, that type stuff. I can go on for days about bands you should check out. Earth Crisis has recently broken up though, I was thoroughly disappointed. I'm not much of a mosher, I'm 6'1'' and 150 lbs (that's extremely skinny in case you dunno) I've got that cross country runner build, and that's what i do, i run and skateboard for my exercise. since you're into metal and it's quite common, got any piercings? i would like some smaller plugs in my ears, just big enough to see through them, and maybe one eyebrow ring but i'm unsure of that. i'm recently legal to get it done on my own and am going off to college soon, i might when i get out of the house.
quick- that makes sense. did you understand my original question about just attacthing the wires where the screws are for attaching them to my amp? if i get a lot of crap in there that needs power i'd have to get a distribution box, i want to avoid that, but i think my 8 gauge wire could handle a 300 watt amp and a single neon tube. do you?
for everybody- one thing i've noticed on this site other than my punctuation is getting worse as i type this post is that everytime someone says something about neons somebody always jumps on them. what's the deal? if someone wants neons by gosh let 'em have some, just like if you want a stereo system or a drop or tinted windows, go out and do it if you are able to.

lol, get snatched in a brawl...have you ever seen some kids fight at shows? they'll yell and push then back off and take their plugs out then go at it. being a peaceful man i don't have to worry about that one :)
