Hello,

I was looking for advice on a product that will help restore the plastic black door handles. They are faded and graying a bit.

Thanks,

Try Mothers back to black
or
Wet n Black by turtle wax, wetnblack is made for tires but it works good, just requires a little more buffing.

I took my handles off and primered/painted/clear coated them to match the truck. Black fading problem solved, FOREVER. ;)

Hey SinCity, did you paint your handles with regular spray paint or do you have a paint gun.

I used spray paint... Plastic primer, Mopar color-code matched spray paint, and then plastikote clear coat.

Back to Black. Apply it a few times over a few days.

Do not use Armor-All on anything. It will make your parts fade more quickly. Do not use any silicone based products.

Thanks for the tip Handi2. I have not bought Back to Black yet, but assume that it is safe to use on the rubber around the windshield as well, right?

Yupp, you can use it there too, works great -- I also use it.

I'm with handi on not using armour-all too, I've never been impressed with any of their products.

don94,

Is the turtle wax a liquid or a paste? Were the mirrors on your truck smooth or bumpy like the new ones?

Just curious.

I use Turtle Wax Color Magic (black) on scratches,
and faded plastic. I also used to wax my front
bumper with it until I finally got it repainted.
Meguiar's Vinyl Conditioner works really well too
on all interior parts and handles and mirrors. I
too have heard the warnings about Armor-A

Hmmm, that is 2 for Turtle Wax, 3 for Meguires and 0 for Armor-all. Anybody else?

I probably won't be getting anything for a few weeks or so. All current Dakota funds (clear corners, detail stuff, ect.) have been diverted to cover the expense of a dog dental bill. How could such small teeth cost me so much money?!

articdak: the turtle wax is in a spray bottle, and my mirrors are smooth. the 2001 also does great job on dash boards and i like that uv protection.
