Message:
How do i know which bulb I have in my fog lights? I have a 99 CC 4x4 318, some websites list 899 or 893 for the bulbs. My Owners Manual says it is a 893... should I belive that? Anyone know the difference between the bulbs? I need to know ASAP also...so any help is much appreciated. Thanks.

The 1997-2000 Dodge Dakota's factory fog light bulb size is 893, but 899's are also compatible. I believe the difference is typically wattage.

I just replaced the factory (893 37.5watt) bulbs with new (885 50watt) bulbs. Just a little brighter and service manager at my dealer said i should have no problem with the slightly higher wattage.

The 893s and 899 differ in the housing. 893 are straight plug in whereas the 899s have a 90 degree angle (hard for me to explain). Bulb goes straight in in both cases, but the exterior housing of the bulbs is different (although the actual plug for each is the same, one runs parralell to the bumber, the other straght back from the bulb)

In some case, if you get the 893 your stock wire which you plug it into will be a hair short (because the other bulb has a housing which goes at a 90 degree angle, providing slightly less distance for the wire to reach.

In a nutshell...same bulb, same plug CONNECTION, different plug ORIENTATION.
