 Subject: APC Diamond Clear Corners

Question for anyone who can answer it,
I just finished putting my APC Diamond Clear Corners on, look great, BUT, there where 2 square orange reflectors inside the box, about 1.5 inch square. Anyone have any idea what these are for? Of course there are no instructions in the box.
Just curious more than anything,

My guess would be to give the corners a amber tint to them. I don't recall mine coming with them, but then again I was in a hurry to put them on, that I did not check for extra pieces. Do what you want with them.

I have no clue what they were for. My Husky wound up eating them while I wasn't looking so at least he found a use for them.

I have them too, but i don't know what their for. I pretty sure they don't go in them though. Hmmm.. as far as i'm concerned, they were pieces that weren't broken off, just extras. and thats a good thing.:)

Hey all,
LMAO.....I emailed APC last night about these orange reflectors and got a return email from a Mr Nolan McGaughy and, no kidding, this was his response:
"they are optional, put them on if you would like"
Yet another company so wrapped up in sales they could care less about exsisting customers.
Just thought you all might get a "kick" outta that! I for one would like to Kick the guy right in the ass!

Because you no longer have a reflective lense or should I say red reflective, they have to put those in every kit so that they are considered legal to sell in all fifty states. Atleast thats what the chop shop here told me. Go ahead guys! Slap that perty reflecter right in the middle of the lense! Now that's ghetto!

I take it we all used the new wire connector that came with the lights? I did, but how come APC cannot cut the hole properly for the small side marker bulb so we can use the stock dodge connector? Kinda sucks. Ii really like the clears though.

Kevster,
I guess the earlier Dakotas (1997-2000?) have the hole with the four tabs. I have a 2001 and only have the 2 tabs. To answer your question the Diamond ones from APC (Crystal Clear- some people call them "Euro-look") didnt come with a new "wire connector" - it was a true "plug and go".
Sounds like you have the regular clear lenses (more white then clear) so you wouldnt have gotten the reflectors that we're speaking of. I had the regular clears- they were generic Pieces of Crap (top corner lense had water in it the first day) and those came with the wire connector you speak of. I REALLY prefer the look of the "Diamond Clear Corners" over the "Clear Corners".

I used a pair of nippers to clip off the two extra tabs. Then it fit perfectly

I just put them on my 2000 Dakota, and they also only had 2 slots for the outside connector, so it must be earlier years.

Thanks Rich, me too. Yes, and I think I might take that out and put the white back in. I put an amber one in the corner, I'm wondering if that will suffice. Looking at some of the expensive imports, there's seem to be predominantly white, so I wonder just what the laws are around that?
