the cab floor of the truck is cut out and moved up so many inches. So it is reducing headroom I believe. The bed has to have the bottom cut out.

Anyone out there correct me if I am wrong

yea thats what they do. they cut along the bottom of the floor, cut the back of the cab, and the fire wall. then they slide the body over the floor and frame. then weld the whole thing back together.

when they do it, you will be sitting higher in the cab then before (depending on how much you body drop it. the usuall is 3- 3 1/2")
most people change the seats, so they are sitting lower to the floor when they body drop.

the bed is done the same way. if you ever look at the bed of a body drop, you will notice the bed is real shallow. that is because they lower the bed sides around the frame. it looks like they raise the floor.

yo crusty is right the floor is cut away from the body and the body is lowered over the frame. its a custom mod to give the vehicle a lowered look without altering the suspension in any way. its similar to what old timers and their hot rods call channeling. ask any hot rodder about it and they can prolly tell you even more.

You can also do a stock floor body drop, where you take your frame and cut it down and reinforce it, that way you dont lose 3-3.5inches of room inside cab, trust me its done more this way now then standard body drop you are talking about cuttin the floor. Mines laying frame on 20s n 22in wheels, soon to be stocked floored.

Franky,

Along with a body drop, you'll have to look into a suspension drop. Airbags are the best way to go with a C-notch to the rear frame. It is a very intensive project with many, many mods to be made.

Good Luck
