I posted somewhere else on the board about my shackles being good and bought them from truckinsuspension (the time they were AIM Industries). Well, i cleaned off the mud today and found out that they are pieces of sh@!. The rubber bushings or seals (whatever u call them) are tearing and falling apart, plus one of the lub spots fell off....grrr...see if i ever buy anything from them again!!

whoa. and I was about to order a set based on the reply earlier today. lol any way the add a leafs look easier to install. do the rough country add a leaves work as good as the fabtech? I havn't ever seen the fabtechs by them self. always in a kit. shouldn't they function about the same an add a leave is kinda and add a leave.

In case u didn't know, add-a-leafs will barely lift the rear with a 2wd. The leafs are under the axle so adding a leaf would bring it down. Fabtech said the 1.5 add-a-leafs would level out the truck with the 3 inch front suspension lift but when i was done, the rear was lower than the front. After some reasearch and common sense, i realized that adding leafs will work if the leaf springs are above the axle. The 2 inch shackle lift raised it exactly 2 inches and it was level.

chaximus , do a little thinking , the leaf is underneath , true but the add a leaf is bent with a bigger arc on it and it's thicker than the stock leaf , making the truck raise when installed ...............It levels the truck mine installed is 1/2 taller in the back than front , it used to be like 1 1/2 to 2 stock ....... Also on a 2wd to offroad , think its better to have it squating to jump or offroad , and trucks are lighter in the rear ....

hey louisianadak,
Nice truck.....good job! It looks sweet. I'm running 31's for now....tried the good year MTr at 33x12.5 at first, but they rubbed and i didn't want to trim, so i went down to 31's with bfg mudders. They fit perfectly.

You are right about the arc and it does raise the truck some but not exactly as much as it states. I don't want to keep adding leafs and having a ride that is equivalent to a horse carriage ;) you have the fabtech 3 inch lift? If so, where did u place the new add a leaf? last toward the ground or on top of the olds? Mine was placed last and it was still 2 inches lower than the front :( Some are saying their's came out level while some say it didn't. What about ur's?

Chaximus - I'm sorry it happened to you to.. I tried to save everyone from Truckin but I knew some people would try them anyway.. I'm just glad all you got from them is the shackle.. That's easy enough to fix. You do still have the old ones right?

Flip the leaf springs over your axle. That'd be the easiest thing to do.. And it's free.

Yeah i purchased those shackles waaay before i heard about the badness of truckinsuspension. Now i know :) I was about to order the front hangers from them but luckily i didn't. I am wondering where i can get a new set of both.

I still got the old ones yeah. U said it's free to flip the leafs? I don't know how to weld so i can't do it myself. I have been wanting to flip them since i lifted it cuz my leafs drag on dirt mounds alot.

chaximus , the add aleaf goes at the bottom but in between the overload spring , so it's not the one all the way to the bottom , it's the one up from the bottom ..................like I said the truck won't sit like stock , but it leveled it , stock was real high in the back so with the add aleaf it sits 1/2 " higher in the rear ....if you put it all the way at the bottom you won't do anything cuase your overloads are the strongest leaf and those wont bend ..........

Alright, i checked my suspension and it's set up the right way. Largest leaf on top to the smallest on the bottom. But it still sits 1 inch lower than the front. Guess i'm stuck with the shackles.

The only reason i said "doh" was cuase i thought the leaf was put in between the 2nd to last leaf and the one above it, but apparently it was placed in the right place. I didn't install the lift either.

On mine it leveled pretty good. But I used the fabtech kit. Actually a higher front end looks good. It gives it a pre-runner look. Greg

Wouldn't want any other!
