Subject: Q's for Tallquad and Modak!

Hi, I hate to keep asking you guys questions but everytime I think I have everything I need to know I think of something else, I just want to know everything I can before I lift my truck.
First for Tallquad, you have 15x10s if I'm not mistaken, I asked you about the backspacing and you said that it was the standard, did you mean standard that Eagle offers or did you mean standard as in Dodge backspacing which is 5.5 if i'm not mistaken. I'm guessing by the width of the wheels and how far they stick out that it would be just the standard backspacing that American Eagle offers which is 3.63. And for Modak I wanted to ask when and I think Tallquad would know this too, When you install the PA bodylift, Theres like a plastic guard that is between the frame and your bumper, it's where the access hole is to your oil filter, Does the kit have anything so you can keep that? Because I was thinking if it wasn't there then the oil filter and belts and whole engine really would be open to all sorts of debris and something could possibly get in there and ruin something. And also how hard is it to relocate the factory hitch with the kit? I'm really wanting to do the body lift myself but I'm kinda thinking of getting a shop to do it. As long as the instructions are really good and clear about things I'm pretty sure I can do it, Just wondering. Thanks alot guys for answering all my previous questions and any help with this one I'd really apprecieate.

I believe tallquad's rims are the factory setting of 3.63 since the fabtech kit requires 3.75 backspacing.

Oh now i understand what u are talking about. You are speaking of the gap in teh wheel wells. When u lift it with a bod lift, there's a big gap in there and alot of stuff could be thrown in there. You need to buy lift lips to cover that area. Right now, mine is exposed (3 inch body lift) and mud always gets kicked up in there. 4 wheel parts has a solution to it and u can find them here at:
http://www.4wheelparts.com/product2.asp?imseqn=1555&occlass=LIP&cat=BOD

good luck on ur lift..it's fairly easy doing it urself if you have the proper tools. I didn't have any knowledge on body lift install but i did it righ the first time :)

I'm talking about something different Chaximus, Although the lift lips are a good Idea because I'd forgotten about the space in the wheelwells.
What I'm talking about is right up under the front airdam and keeps mud and I guess rocks from getting kicked up into the oil filter and the belts and hoses. It's the plastic if you were lying on your back up under the front where the oil filter access cover is. I'm assuming all dakotas are like that. Well my 4.7 is anyway but maybe v6's and 5.9 are different. If that wasn't there I'd want some kind of skid plate or something to keep stuff from bashing the oil filter or getting into the belts or ripping a radiator hose off.

Hey Jeff, the part you are talking about up is just as you said, a rubber piece to keep debris out. I literally ripped mine off (those plastic clips started to bug me) from the lower part of the frame. After the lift, I never installed it back. I haven't had any problems without it in the year that I had the truck. I wouldn't lose any sleep over it. ;-)

The hitch doesn't move or need to be relocated. Since its attached to the frame, it needs to stay put. Also, my rims are 3.? (not 5.5 factory), sorry to confuse you. I don't have the paperwork to see what the backspacing is. The standard Eagle rim spec. works fine.

My bad...i know what u mean now. I tore that plastic off while installing the body lift and never placed it back on. I'm thinking of getting a fabbed skid plate sometime soon cuz there are some vital radiator pipes and tubes hanging low in front of the frame. Hitting a rock will make a big green puddle :(

Ok thanks Tallquad, That's what I figured your spacing was, On 4wheelparts website it's listed as
3.63. The rubbing you had with it was probably pretty minor wasn't it? By what I can tell what you trimmed in the pics it is I hope. I'd really rather have 33's on 15x10 rather than a 32 on a 15x8 because I think it looks alot better. And yeah chaximus, I don't need any green puddles or anything, that would definitely suck. Well thanks alot guys for all the info. I hope that now I finally do know everything I need to know.
