Subject: Should I upgrade tires with body lift?
IP: Logged

Message:
I am relatively new with the lifting scene, but I am interested in doing the 3" body lift. Currently I have the stock 265-70-R16 tires on my 2002 quad cab sport. Would a 3" body lift with these tires look weird, or should I wait till I need new (bigger) tires?

thanks for any input!

Dominic

I'd wait.. and when u run these tires out go w/ the lift and new tires. Unless you get a good deal on the new tires.. or know someone who wants to buy the old ones. I don't think it'll look to bad but it'll definatelly look SWEET! w/ the new tires in there.

Stock tires are quiet, ride nice, but are junk IMO unless you drive only on dry paved roads. For some reason though, you can sell'em and make some good money towards a new set like I did if they are fairly new, must be the brand name and the white lettering looks cool? Good-Year makes much better light truck tires for the same or less money so I don't understand what went wrong with the RT/S's. I just sold the tires off my wifes 02 Dak for $350, but they only had about 200 miles on'em when I ripped them off(snow's now on the stock rims).

The factory size tires look kinda odd after you body lift it, but not bad at all. Actually looks alot like the stock Off Road Ram with the tires that just don't fill the wheel wells. 32x11.50's on stock rims look much better and 33's look even better. If you get a good set of tires, you'll be much happier either way with looks and performance.
