We'll first off thanks to all those who responded to my other various postes and emails with photos answers links and hints you guys helped a lot (wish you all could have been there to help put it on). I finished putting the 3" body lift on my 99 Durango Saturday morning took about 7 hours to do and 2 of that was removing the aftermarket hitch to get to the rear body mount bolt... uggg. After that i took it to the local tire shop and had my 33 x 12.50 AT's mounted on it. It looks GREAT. I went from the factory 235/65 r 15's to 33's wow what a difference. it actually looks like its got a pair now. All totaled the lift and tires set me back $710.05 exactly. I was able to install the kit without having any major hangups (first time for everything). I didnt have to mess with the fuel line at all and just popped off the plastic brake clips. Used a coupling nut and a 3.5" piece of all thread for the 4X4 extension. Also had a couple extra bucks and used about an hour of time to put on a custom grill (thanks to DAKFURY for the idea). All in all a saturday well spent. 14.47 for all the parts for the custom grill and i think it looks every bit as good as the high dollar custom grills i have seen for sale.

As a side note for the post earlier about lifted durangos YOU CAN FIT 35's with just a 3" body lift. I tested a set Saturday and had no rubbing with the torsion bars cranked only 5/8 of an inch. the only rubbing i got was on the frame at full lock and that was mild. I went with the 33's because if I get into some nasty stuff (and i do) i want the comfort of plenty of suspension travel. thanks to dirty durango for the pics he sent me of his lifted durango. Just so you know i have done NO trimming and have the torsion bars set to factory specs which raised the front 5/8's of an inch (im guessing from sag). I have tons of clearance at the bumper and near the fenders, and encourage anyone who is not yet lifted to go get it done.... HOORAH!!! I love lifted

ian, as far as i know they are identical, both the durango and dakota share the same front bumper and fenders. I am not sure if maybe the durango naturally sits a little higher to begin with or not. I own and have owned SEVERAL rams dakotas and a couple of durangos in the last 4 years. I have never been able to run 35's on my dakotas without doing some trimming. I honestly dont know why they fit so sweetly under the durango. Still working on getting a digital camera so i can post some pics to show you the clearance.

i only asked because i have a 4X4 dakota with 33's and 3" of lift and there's no way 35" tires would fit under it. from my experience, stock durangos sit lower than stock dakotas so naturally i'm curious what you did to get them in there.

ian, I did nothing out of the ordinary. I had the torsion bars cranked up 5/8 of an inch (to bring the to factory specs) and put in the 3 inch PA body lift. I have not moved the bumper forward or anything else unusuall. I am running 33's right now but 35's did fit i just wanted plenty of room for suspension travel with no concern of it maybe getting int o the fender. I was able to put the 35's on and turn to full lock in both directions and the only place it rubbed was slightly on the frame. I am using the factory wheels which help with the rubbing issues because most aftermarket wheels stick out farther. I will post some pics with the 33's on there and show you the clearance i am talking about. There is approximately 2 inches from tire to fender or bumper. Like i said i have no good reason why they fit just that they did. It could be the tires or wheels are a little diffent size. Maybe the torsion bars are a little stronger, or maybe the moons gravity lifted the vehicle and extra inch(just kidding). I havent been able to fit them on my Dakotas either. I do hope to get pics posted soon that way everyone doesnt think i have lost my mind... or maybe i have moohoohahahaha.

sweet man, keep us posted on the pics. my 33's rub very slightly but i have not cranked anything. i'm actually working on an add-a-leaf and the cranked torsions but i haven't gotten a solid answer from anyone on what parts to use. i'm hoping for another 2" of lift.

by the way, can you tell me how to get the lift from the moon. it would seem to be the cheapest route! ;)

your just have to wait until night to work on your truck for the lunar assistance...lol I am going out of town for a few days when i get back in i should have a digital camera and will post some pics. I wouldnt crank the torsion bars too much. From what i have heard it can cause excess wear on them. The adda -a- leafs help some but only if the axle is below the spring (on the durangos the springs are below the axles and you dont really get much lift)
