Hey
I heard if i need to get any info, it should be from you since u have one of the tallest 4X2. I have a 2000 Dak SLT, 4.7L, v8mag, not 4x4.
I want to lift it. I saw a picture of a 99 dak with the same features as mine. The trucks mods were: 9in. lift,38Swamper radials,12in. wide Billet Specialty wheels(.http://www.dodgedakota.net/albums/viewer/196.htm <-----This is what it looks like)--is it possible to do this for a 00' dak and how much would it cost??? i would appreiciate the help. thanx.

Dave,

I can answer this one , as that was my truck you`re talking about.

Yes , you can make your truck that tall , or taller with a full-on custom suspension , ie. solid front axle , coil-over shocks , and if you want , a transfer case to power that new front end.

As far as bolt-on things...NO there is no way to make a 2WD Dakota that tall. It was all I could do to get my 4X4 that big and it is already 3in. taller that a 2WD is.

As far as I know TallQuad has the biggest 2WD kit there is , so maybe if you wanted to hack the living daylites out of your fenders , you might be able to cram 35s under it , but I doubt it.

Yup, Scott is right, the way I have my truck
set-up is the tallest you can go with bolt-on
kits. If you go custom like Scott did, skies the
limit (or should I say wallet)!

BTW - I dig your rig Scott!! You really know
how to make a tall 2wd feel short!! lol... ;-)
It looks great!

David, the largest tire you can go is 33's with
my set-up. I wish it could fit 35's but there is no
way its gonna happen, even if I hack more off! I
think 6 inches with 33's is a nice set-up for the
money and effort involved. I'm happy with it so
far... :-)

scott, is it possible to swap in a solid axle into the front of a 2wd or should it not even be attempted. also how much did you spend on your custom lift?

My lift wasn`t really "custom", it was all bought right out of the magazines. I think the susp. lift was around $1600 with shipping , the body lift was around $180 and the gap guards were $50-65 I think(I did this over 2 years ago, so I`m not exactly sure on #s).

As far as putting a straight axle on a 2WD...yea , anything is possible , but I think you`d be looking at anywhere from 5 to 8 grand to do it right. If you just wanted the look and stance you could save some $ buy not putting in a transfer case , front driveshaft , etc..
There`s a white truck around here that did what you`re wanting to do and it turned out great , someone that remembers a link , please help.

Yeah im mainly looking at the look, not the functionabilty of it. I am like you and I am going to just be driving it around, but I want to run 38s comfortably. Do you have a website where I can see more pics?
