Subject: NEW TIRES, avoid? recommend?

Hey I am going to be getting new tires very soon here. I would like to know what you guys think of different tires. What tires do you recommend and which suck. I live in Northern Idaho and yes they will be used in the winter.

Hey now im not made of money either so consider that plz.

So far I have been thinking more along the lines or a M/T. Also I want the 33/12.50s but dont know if that is too wide for snow?

well any way what experience do you have with the following fell free to add any, these are just some im considering

2000 SLT CC 4x4 will have torison bar adjustment and 1 inch block in rear and 3 in PA body lift

BFGs M/T
Hankook M/T
ProComp M/T
ProComp X/T

Also what would be the best backspacing to get, thx?

Thanks guys

GoodYear M/TR's Great Mud Tires.. Wear funny on the road. I have 7,000 miles on them and they are starting to Scallup (how ever you spell that) true most of those are highway miles.

Anyway M/T are exactally that.. MUD TIRES!!! If you plan on getting them and this is your daily driver make sure you get them mounted on a second set of wheels. That way you don't put 90% of your miles on them from the highway.

For mostly road use from the list you posted I'd go with the Pro-Comp XTerrains. In the 33x12.5x15" flavor.

33x12.50 ProComp XTerrians = AWESOME!!!!!

These tires are GREAT compared to some that I have had in the past - Very aggressive look, not MUCH road noise (some though), wear good

Negatives = picks up lots and mud and throws it everywhere:) and I have to wash the truck a lot

Yokohama Geolander AT+II I don't know about the bigger size, but the 31x10.50-15's I got work awesome.Less road noise than the stock Goodyear's. And the price was unbeatable.

Thanks for the pics, now are those the American Eagle 589s? They look like it, did you get that package off of 4wheelparts.com? Because that is the exact package that i am looking at.

I really like my BFG Mud Terrains. Great tires, with some road howl, but not bad at all. They do OUTSTANDING in mud and standing water, but dig in more than I'd like in sand.

My first choice was the X-Terrains, but they were not offered in a 32 inch size like I wanted.

Sure did... the package was right around $1,100 at the time and included mounting, balancing, and free shipping ($50 packaging fee?) I also ordered my gap guards and body lift from them. My entire set up was about $1,400 - All you need to cut the front bumper with is a sharp razor knife. In my opinion it's WELL worth it! HAVE FUN!!!!

BFG Mud Terrains....all the way ;) I can't think of a tire that would be more agressive in the mud and snow than these (except boggers and super swampers).

i have the hankook T24's 30x9.5X15 on my 98 dak. i've
had them for almost 3 years now and they are great. i
had them studded for winter, and i've had no problems
so far. i live in alberta canada and i spend a lot of time
hunting in the oil field where the roads turn into very
thick gumbo mud when it gets wet. these tires are great.
the only problem is that hankook doesn't make them
any more. they now have the RT01, but i don't know
anything about them.

I know you didn't mention these as one of your options, but I just put a set of 33x12.50 BFG AT's on mine and I must say, I have been very happy with them so far. These would work much better for you if you do a lot of highway driving and will last much longer than the Mud Terrain tires out there.
