Subject: 33" Swamper Question
IP: Logged

Message:
I have a question regarding running 33x12.50 SSR Radial Swampers on a 2000 Dakota 4x4 with a 3" PA body lift.
I have seen the pictures of the Dakota Quad Cab 4x2 running those tires on Weld 10" wheels. I know that the lift configuration was 3" body, 3" Fabtech and 2" coil spacers. I am thinking that that setup is probably a little higher than a 4x4 with only the 3" body.
I am thinking about running 33" swampers on eagle 589's 10" wheels, I think the backspacing is 3.62" and was wondering how much trimming would be required or if you could even get that configuration to work. Not all tires designated 33" are actually that height, there is some variance and my understanding is that the Swamper Radials run on the upper end of that 33" scale. Most of the trimming pictures I have seen have been on the inside of the fender wells and that wouldn't bother me, I just dont want to have to cut into the sheet metal at all, I think a good clean cut on the fender well and possibly the lower front bumper acceptable. I dont think that I would need to cut into the sheetmetal, but maybe there is something I am missing, like the fitment on the rear tires, or the back of the front wheel wells.
The truck does not see off road use and so I am not overly concerned with rubbing under heavy compression.
I guess width of the tires is another concern... I would appreciate any input. Thanks,
DCG

No matter what brand 33" tire you put on you are going to have to trim metal in the front rear well. Swampers even more so because they are true 33's. BFG M/T's are about 32.7 or something close which is just a tad smaller then Swampers. If you used a 15 or 16x8" rim it would help and you may not have to trim any metal.

Dakota, where've you been?
What's up with the transfer case?
Did you get that 3" Rancho lift?

With 33x12.50 ProComp XTerrians on 15x10 Eagle Alloys. The 3.62" backspacing is correct.

I got the transfer case all squared away...well..almost all of it.

And since the transfer case AND front driveshaft needed to be fixed...my cash went bye-bye. SO no Rnacho lift....YET. but fear not, it will go on at somepoint soon (as in within a year)

What was the problem with the t-case and shaft. Is it something I need to look out for?

I also want the 3" rancho, crank it up to about 4" and combine that with the body lift and I'll be rolling on 35's!

You need to come to Louisiana and we can give those swampers a real workout hehe!
