hello, my name is fred garza. i am the PROUD owner of a 2000 dodge dakota quad cab 5.9L 4x4. while surfing the web i came across this site. GREAT board. i have owned an eagle talon AWD for the past 4 years and have learned much from club dsm at www.dsm.org.

good to see a great "club" for the dakotas, too.
after HOURS of reading can someone verify what i have found.

1. the only real lift for a 2000 dak 4x4 is the performance accessories 3" body lift. the rancho suspension lift is gonna be out "soon".
also when doing the lift with the floor shifter for 4x4 you can use a 3" threaded bar to extend if you do not have welding skills or access.

2. largest wheels without a lift - 31 x 10.5

3. a good cheap intake can be made from pvc pipe and a k&n filter

now i have some other questions...

what is the best and cheapest way to run a true dual exhaust... one pipe on left and one on the right.

how did tall quad get his tires to stick out like that? and what is his webpage again?

thanks in advance for a dak noob

Fred,
-Largest wheels without a lift - 32X11.5 on 15x8s.
-If tallquad's tires are sticking out then it's probably from offset aftermarket wheels and/or wider tires.

Was wondering, if you don't mind me asking, how much did you pay for your truck and where?

i have heard both good and bad about the home made intake. i have the K&N full intake and it seems pretty good, the only thing is when used with the 3" body lift you'll have to remove the air damn that comes with it.

the only way to run a true dual exhaust it to have one custom made. i don't think anyone makes one accept for the usuall single pipe that splits into two towards the end.

Fred,
I have the same setup on my 2002 4x4 Club Cab as Tall Quad does. I am running 15x10 Eagle Alloy 589's (the offset and the 10" rims is what makes them stick out - along with the 12.50 tires) and 33x12.50 Pro Comp XTerrains with a 3" PA Body Lift.
NOTE: I did have to do MAJOR trimming to my front bumper for this combo to fit though. I only have a few pictures of the front tire posted so far, but I will have more up by the end of the week. I had to cut the front bumper off about 2" and cut the back bottom fender flare off about 1" (You can see this in the pictures)

Hope this helps and good luck!

Brad, do your tires rub the frame anywhere with that set-up of wheels and tires? I wouldn`t mind trimming , but I don`t want the tires rubbing the frame after doing so.

Scott: Trimming wasn't that bad (actually all you need is a sharp razor blade and that plastic cuts very easily) - On the front we moved the inside black plastic piece up to pull even with the trimming on of the bumper and screwed it in from underneath - On the back we had to cut the bottom of the fender flare off and a good bit of the inside plastic piece. It doesn't hit on the front anymore at all. It doesn't hit on the back unless I'm turning very, very, very sharp, and hit a bump going about 5 mph (but when it hits it's the bottom strip of the metal (right below the fender flare by about 1/4 inch - A local machine shop is going to shave that 1/4 off for me so then I wan't have any problems at all) - If you do A LOT of offroading I wouldn't recommend this setup, but if you accasionally go offroading and mainly just want it for L@@Ks it's well worth it. If you need more help let me know - dixieshirts@hotmail.com

FRED: I believe the offset of the 15x10 is 3.62" - check out this website www.4wheelparts.com

Brad,
Thanks for the help. All I`ll be interested in is street driving and looks , so I shouldn`t have a problem then. I was just concerned that the tires would rub the frame at full lock even after trimming the fenders , flares, and lower front valance.
I did some major trimming on my previous 99 Dak , so I`m not scared.

BTW from what I can see your truck looks good. When are we going to see some more pics.?

I'm just waiting on the pics to be developed - I'll post them as soon as possible - NOTE: I cranked my torsion bars 4 turns also - Probably didn't make that much difference but just thought I'd let you know

I LOVE the truck and the L@@K now - My friend has a 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 4x4 Diesel and it's funny because my fenders actually sit the same height as his. His truck still looks bigger (because his body is bigger (wider)) but it's AWESOME! Go for it, it's definitely worth doing!

I'm not sure, but I bought my entire setup from www.4wheelparts.com (Body Lift, Rims/Tires mounted balanced, Lift Lips, shipped free) Total cost was $1310.00 - you might want to give them a chance if you haven't already bought everything.
