Alright, I'm gonna do it. I am going to put a 3" body lift on my baby. (2001 QC 4X4).

Where do I start guys? In other words, where is the best place to buy a kit and which is the best one to buy.

Thanks. I really enjoy reading your posts.

Ayrow,

Try a Peformance Accessories body lift, it comes with everything. You can get it online at 4wheelparts or if you get another lift kit make sure it comes with the bumper brackets!!!!

Ayrow - JCWhitney has the cheapest priced kit I've seen! It's a Performance Accessories 3" lift and I just installed it on my 2002 QC. Its designed for 2000 models (thats is high as they go) but it works fine. It also comes with bumper brackets!

Here is the part# 47VZ0213U
Price is $166.95

I couldn't find this kit online, but it is in the catalog I have at home so you may have to call them. 1.800.865.4227

Hope this helps a bit.

I will give them a call. I have used JC Whitney in the past and they have been pretty good so far.

Should I expect any surprises such as having to weld anything?

I have the 5spd tranny on the 4.7 V8.

Thanks again.

You have a 5spd!!??.... hmmm. Well... I have one too, but they cause a REAL pain in the A$$ when it comes time to bend the shifter. On automatics its not a problem but on ours it gets tough to shift once the body is higher than the tranny.

If you have a cutting torch (to heat the metal) then you won't have any trouble. But if you're like me and have only basic tools, you need to find a shop or friend that can bend the shifter from an "S" to an almost straight rod. I will try and post some pics before you start the install. OR you can just have a shop install it which might be the best way to go!

Oh yeah, you might want to buy a universal radiator hose instead of using the 4" metal pipe that comes with kit to extend it. I didn't like the way they try to solve the problem so I am getting a new longer hose. Alot of guys on this board have installed the same kits so there is a ton of info on this board as well. :-)
