I was quoted $1175 for a 3" Fabtech plus installation on my 2WD 3.9L quad. Is this a good price??

Price came from a shop in Costa Mesa, California called X-Treme Truck Parts. Anyone heard of them?? His business card has very nice looking lowered white 97-00 CC with RT wheels.

Before I totaled my 97 CC 2wd I had mine done at a shop in Buena Park for 1200 installed. check with 4 wheelparts also. I'll look up the shop I had mine done at if you want. But realize you will need new rims with the fabtech kit.

Julie,
Can't give you any feedback on the company you mention but if you are in the SoCal area, try calling "Pick-Up Parts" in Mission Viejo. They did some work on my Bronco a while back and the quality of work was excellent. I just called and was quoted:
Kit $785
Labor & Alignment $310
Total $1095.

Ask to speak with Justin. 949-472-0390

By the way, I let him quote first and the Kit was $861 which brought them in at $1171. I mentioned that I was responding to someone on this web forum and that your other quote was for $1175. Couple of key punches later he revised it to the $785 number. While my dealings with them have been limited, all experiences to date have been positive. (No, I'm not on their payroll) He also noted that he was just about to install a lift on a quad.

Hope this helps,
Craig

Thanks for your responses to my post. I am very pleased to see that the price I was offered is fair.

The information about the other shops in my area will be helpful in the future.

A few questions again. 1) why would I need to get new rims?

I was going to get a front end alignment, because it is off a bit. 2)Should I hold off if I plan on getting the lift then??

My last and main concern is 3)How much will the lift change the ride of the truck?

Thanks for your help.

you have to get new rims because the new a arms in the fabtech kit are larger at the ends where the spindles attach and hence the stock rims will hit the a-arms and cause problems.

here's a link to fabtech's site about the lift. YOu have to have rims with at least a 3 3/4" backspacing.

hope all this helps

In your profile pic it shows you have aftermarket rims and it looks like they stick out a little more. They probably will work fine. The problem with most trucks is that they have the stock rims whick have 5.5" of backspacing. Check the specs on your rims to be sure. Like Cadetdak said, 3 3/4" or less of backspacing.

Thanks for explaining about why I might need new rims. That would be an additional cost I wasn't expecting. I currently am running Ultra Wheels 15x8 Impacts on 30x9.5, but am unsure about the exact back spacing. My spare is stock, so that would need to be changed.

Thanks for your help :)
