I know some of you guys are from the Tampa Bay area...what are some reputable shops to go to for the 3" fabtech lift? I know of places that have it and will install it but Ive either already had bad experiences or they seem REALLY shady. Distance isn't a factor...I'd rather drive to clearwater and get it done right than get it done close and regret it.

Jon, where are you at? Down here in Ft. Myers we have "Sunbusters 4x4" I have had all my work done my them. They do good stuff and are good local people. Church going and stuff. I can get you a number if you want.

Hey, look at a map of Fla. Follow I-75 south to Ft. Myers. Then find the huge river that runs under I75. Its right of the southern coast near 75. The phone number is 1-941-694-7544. They are good people.
Also, there are a few places near Lakeland that I know of. My cousin has his 1985 Jeep Scrambler hooked up there. The also do some wicked Hummers w/ like 38 swampers. Totally cool. Ill get the number from him.
Hope this helps.

Hey...thanks! Lakeland would probably be closer and easier to deal with but if things don't check out I may be going to Ft. Myers for a few days :)

I'm in Tampa. I'd love to be able to offer help but I've never had to do anything with any shops locally, other than browse their showroom.

Hey its cool...If you are ever looking for something for your truck do not go to topper town in brandon. They suck...the manager is a nice guy but their sales manager and install guys suck a$$!

Just had a GREAT experience with Leroy's 4X4 in Tampa. They are at the intersection of Hillsborough and I-275. They did my gear install and I'm really happy with the work they did. They were honest and up front with me, showed me everything, offered to let me look at their partially completed work before they buttoned everything back up, and treated me like I knew something about my truck.

Can't say for sure how good they are with lifts. But they did have a few nice looking lifted trucks/SUV's in the parking lot.

For the rear end only, install would have been $292. That includes the synthetic gear fluid and the friction modifier for the LSD, but doesn't include the gears themselves. That price also includes extra labor time for replacing all the bearings and seals. I don't have my receipt handy for the gears (ordered them through Randy's Ring & Pinion) but I think the rear only was right around $300 including the rebuild kit (all new bearings, shims, seals, etc). You can save about $80-$90 in parts and probably the same on installation by not getting the rebuild kit. But I figured that since the installer was going to be in there anyways, I wanted to spring for new bearings, etc.

Not cheap, but I'm glad I made the switch.

Thanks Dan. Not many people pay attention to that question. But I am a college student and will be moving to Gainesville FlA this summer for UF. And I am low on cash. So I have to be really picky with my truck buying stuff right now. I think this will have to wait a bit. But the total ($300 gears, another 300 for installation) is about 600 bucks. So I will be looking into this soon I hope. Thanks and enjoy those gears!

So what differences you noticing with those new gears? Also I finally got around to calling leroys and they seemed very polite and professional. The price they quoted me for the lift was pretty sweet too!
