I did my lift a few weeks ago and the lower radiator hose extension wouldn't fit so I had to get a pipe from a local parts store. My concern is that my hose is literally only a 1/4 inch from the fan and I'm worried it might hit it. I could just remove the shroud fan but I climb some pretty steep highways occasionally...think I'd have an overheating problem?

What do ya me the extension wouldn’t fit? It is pretty tough to get fitted and takes some work mine is 2002QC/4.7. A few thoughts. Did you try reversing the hose? Some guys have had luck with this method. Also don’t push the hose all the way on the outlets; as long as the clamps are straight you can fudge the angle of the hose a little. I used the pipe extension and reversed the hose; I’ve got about 3/4 inch clearance. If I couldn’t get the space, I was going to go hunting at the parts store. Take the old hose and get that angle at the bottom to move the away from the fan. How would removing the fan shroud help...you lost me there! Good Luck!

I have a gen 2 with no shroud... not sure if it ever had one, but it don't overheat at all, it may be because it has an oversized aluminum rad. but may not either way if you need a shroud to keep it cool i think the manufactures need to improve on there cooling techniques... OR you could always buy an electric fan and never worry about the hose hitting it again. Plus you'll gain probably 15 hp doing it

I took my fan off. It is close when I put it on, but I only have it on when towing.

If your truck is 4x4 change the shroud to a 4x2 fan shroud, its smaller and thats what i had to do when i blew my water pump.when the pump blew the fan came off and spun its way through hoses, raditor and condesor, it sucked.
