what happened to this thread?

oh well
i raced a 92 honda civic, he had a K&N and i am bone stock
he won by a half a carlength
here is what my freind wrote about it (he has a 91 eagle talon that will do 13-14s)

"well tonight I decided i'd grace Superbee with a ride in some mopar :-p

Pick his sweet ass up and we go thru town. Not even a good car in site going the proper direction.

We go back to the campus to find his friend jeff. Jeff has a mid 90's blue civic 4dr 5 spd with a K&N filter
superbee for everyone that does not know, has a older dakota sport which is jacked up but has a sludgomatic.

We hit the "strip"
i'm feeling intimidated because i think if you add the dakota's 125hp to the civics 100 hp they MIGHT come close to my cars output. I think my car is running 230ish(crank). (should be more, fooking boost controller WORK damn you)

We are going down the strip and guess what we get. Thats right a RED LIGHT. WOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOO
first race. Just to show them who their daddy is, I take off at 3500(no need for more abuse) and run it up to 40 or so then let off. After the end of first gear I could see both clearly in my rearview :-D
From that race, I do not know who won out of the dakota and civic. We run thru town, only hit one more light, but they didn't get lined up well. Superbee took off and the civic couldn't make up the distance by the time Super hit the speed limit.

Finally after another 4-5 sets of lights we get a light with two openings. I motion for super to get in my lane as we know the outcome of a civic vs dsm race

At the light, super is power braking and busting the back tires loose just a little bit. The civic is just holding his revs somewhere around 3-4 grand.

Light goes green and BAAM
these two hot rods take off like no ones business. The civic bakes them just a little bit, while supers truck claws at the pavement for traction.
By the look of it after the launch, super appears to have a bumper or so on the civic.
So after the first 30 seconds of the race, the civic shifts out of first gear and into 2nd it goes.

It appears the massive torque surge provided by the civics 1.6 liters of fury allowed him to jump a foot or two in front of the truck at the begining of 2nd.

As the rpm's rise on both these pavement ripping monsters, the civic appears to be putting a few inches on the dakota.

They end the race, i'd say around 50ish with the civic no more than 1/2 a cars lead. So after the 3 minutes that race took, we all turned around and headed back.

I ended up getting stuck at a bunch of lights, so I just went to the womans house for a hummer. I'll be getting p1 back by the end of the week, so we're going to go out again sometime in the future with closer matched cars to rip the pavement of Eau Claire apart."

Hey Super Bee. Whats up my friend? Not much here. Just talken to a guy called "duster" from another site about buying a 318 from him. He might even build it for me so all I gotta do is install it. Thatd be great. I hope it works out.
So hows your truck doing? Hope to hear from you later. Have a good one.

Have you guys tried that new Fram "Sure-Drain" plug thing that replaces your oil drain valve on the oil pan? I put one on mine about two weeks ago, just havent used it yet to drain my oil. There is a long hose that attaches to it, and that goes right into your oil gallon jug or whatever you use. I got so tired of trying to find a funnel that fits up in there because the oil splashes right on top of that cross member!

The only new item on my truck would be some new front fender flares. The old ones are now in the dumps.

i brought this thread to life and ditched it
anyway
whoknows whos truck this is?
http://www.dodgedakota.net/albums/viewer/126.htm
im wonder if ther eis a 2" body lift on there, id really like a 2" and some 31s. but that would require 600 dollars or so, alot to a poor college kid
i could prolly make 30s or 31s fit they way it is now, i prolly should have said f uck it and gone with 30s, oh well, live and learn, next set of tires wont be for a good long while
im happy though, i get a nice truck small 28" tires and all with 16 mpg average in the winter, so ill prolly be getting liek 18 in the summer
i hope
gawd you guys dont knwo how bad i wanna jsut dump like 10 grand into my truck,
paint job, built 318, the works
oh and a nice lift, maybe some axels,
damn college and having to spend money on it
maybe if and when i get out of college ill still have my baby, restore it, and build it up. i jsut love the way it looks, not small, and not huge, and i LOVE the boxy look of it
such is life

I know what your talken bout SB. Im in my 3rd year too. Money is real tight. But I am always worken the plan to get cash for my truck. Its an obsession I guess. The gear ratio in your truck should be listed inside the love box or door well. I think that is what I have heard.
About the dream 10 grand. Off the bat, a crate 360. 727 tranny or so. And a set of solid axels. Just big enuf to run 35s. No more no less. My dream. Maybe in the future. huh.
Later guys. I gotta plan to get my header gasket worked on tomarrow. I just dont have the time to deal with it. Gotta take it to the shop. Time is money. Later.

Did I ever tell you guys that I had some stainless steel brake lines installed in the front? The old ones failed and cracked open and I lost all my brake fluid. So the shop guy just recommended doing a stainless steel job in there, and for only $200 I took it!

Wish I had the 3.92s. I have the 3.21s and they are about to get dumped. Either a set of 3.92s or a rear axel swap tp something like a jeeps AMC 20 widetrac with 3.73s or so.
Since yall have 3.92s, what does your truck run, in RPMs, at like 60 and 80 mph? Thanks.

ill check on the way home, my truck dont do 85 well, the engine in 3rd does not spin fast enoggh to get the 3.92 to turn over any faster, and there is not enough power to accel quick in OD cuz i dont have any mods
i think 60 is around 2200 RPMs and 85 is like 2800, both numbers are in OD

But I would really appreciate your info on those rpm ratings. I really getten serious about doing a gear swap and probably a lim. slip too. Thanks for the help Super Bee.
Have a nice evening.

Just one question. You increased your tire size right? Are those reading above, mph, deirectly off the speedo or are they figured with the new tire diameter size? Thanks again bud.

I cut out my cat and I instantly got an extra mpg. I'm sure there were hp gains, but I cannot remember if I noticed them or not. Besides, with my Jacobs ignition on there, I can pass emissions tests (except the part that is visual; I wont pass because I have "tampered" with it). Also, with our exhausts, an upgrade to at least 2.5" is working excellent on my truck, with the headers, no cat, and a Borla muffler. AWESOME!

BTW Joe E, did I tell you that recently my Jacobs stopped working on me. I had it for 3 years, and I bought it used from eBay. So it had probably 70-100,000 miles on it. I'm in the market for another one. Which one do you have?

It was a gradual thing over the course of about 60 days. I would be driving down the highway, or idling at an intersection, and the truck would suddenly start to stall and finally die. Nobody could figure it out! We checked evrything! Finally, it died right in front of my favorite mechanic shop (can you believe that?). After 5 minutes of toying with the coil, sparks, and stuff, we figured out that the blue ignition box was not putting out any more spark. So now I'm just running stock off of the stock coil. Truck runs fine now. Maybe I could get a good price on eBay? I'm definitely going with a new one this time! Used is just too risky.
