what would i need to do to have my tires stick out farther so my truck will have a wider stance i want to get american racing black offroad wheels and the same size tire just wider will that do the trick??

Backspacing is key. Stock is 5.5" anything less than 5.5 is going to bring the tires and wheels outward for a wider stance.
I think the wheels you referred to have 4.5" backspacing so I think they would do the trick
PS 3.25" Backspacing is the farthest backspacing I have heard of and this can be found on some of the Eagle Alloys / American Eagle wheels.

My Backspace is 3.5 and they are American Eagle 589 i believe and they stick out pretty far.

Don't mess with backspacing, offset, or any of that gay stuff. You can get the tires to stick out without fiddlin with the wheels. Just take a big hammer and bash the fenders in some. Now you got the "appearance" of the wheels sticking out without messing up the suspension or ride characteristics. And isn't appearance what it's all about?

What year is your dak? 4x4 97 and up can run 32x11.5 usually if you get a custom wheels that sticks out a little
96s and older probably 31x10.5? I don't know this is a hard questions becuase i hear different from different people

I think pauls right if you want 31 to fit you might have to go 10.5,otherwise go 30 with a wider tire
