Subject: Tire Size w/ Added Leaf & Torsion Crank
IP: Logged

Message:
I'm going to be putting on an Add-a-Leaf and cranking my torsion bars this weekend.

I'm wondering, from those of you that have done this, without making any other changes, what tires should I be able to run? I'm thinking that 265/75/16's should be fine, but I'm wondering if I can still go up a size. I'm keeping the stock rims right now, and I'm going to be buying 4 BFG AT KO's.

Thanks for the help.

I am planning on the same setup minus the add-leaf, there is already plenty of clearance in the back, even for 33's.

The 265/75/16's equal 32X10.50 which should clear no problem. Half the Daks come with 31X10.50 stock and still have plenty of space for the extra inch.

Click on my thumbnail to view my truck, I have already done the 2" torsion lift in the front I just need to buy the tires after mine are history. I have a lot of room for tire growth.

Well... put everything on this weekend. No problems at all... it was kinda un-nerving that it went so easily.

I got 1.75" lift out of the new leaf, and 1.25" lift from the torsion bars. The first full turn of the t-bars got me 0.75", and the next 2 got me 0.25" each. There is still plenty of thread left on, so I didn't even max it out. There is also still vertical travel in both directions on the front end, so I should be good there too.

Now, I just need to figure out the tire situation. I have a list of the different sizes for the BFG T/A KO, and I'm not sure what to go with.

The 265/75/16 are basically 32x10.5, which I'm told should work for my setup, and my 16" rims. But what about the 33x12.5's? It says those are for a 16.5" rim. Can I assume those won't work? If I can't do the 33's, then I'm probably just going to do the 265's.

Thanks for the help.

I wouldn't go any bigger than a 32" tire with your setup. Every post I read says that 33's will rub and require some trimming.

try to find a post by foreXfour..he had 33's on stock suspension with the t-bars cranked and said there was still some rubbing.

let us know how it goes, and it would be awesome if you could get some pics after you are done. I can host them for you if you like.
