Well, I don't speak for Knobbyman, but i believe he's going with the metric equivalent for 33X12.50 tires on his 16" rims (305/70/16). They are ProComp Xterrains. He said they were something around $900 for 5 tires.

That's not the best deal on tires, but that's not bad. For your two wheel drive I suggest finding a good rim/tire package deal for around the same price in some 4wheel magazine(that way you can get rid of those gay stock 15" rims).

If you get a good fabtech lift or body lift you could fit some 31 or 32 tires pretty easily, and if you get both the suspension lift and the body you could probably fit 33's.

If anything is wrong Knobbyman, feel free to correct me.

Hawkeye! I think he just solved my problem! I was having some vibration in my truck while going down the road and thought it was my tires. I know what it was now! My gay wheels are attracted to eachother and their boners are causing an off-balance problem! Anyone know where I can get some hetarosexual wheels?

BlackDak YES!!! once I finish I will be more then happy to meet you somewhere to show you this lift. I have more pictures to upload BTW but I forgot my digital camera @ my parrents house on the coffee machine.

Arthur you are correct about the tires and the $900 was correct according to my last post which was wrong... I'm paying something like $750 (I'm not doing the math but 4x187 for 5 tires).

If you guys have anymore questions about my lift plz check out the post @ http://www.dodgedakota.net/boards/off/718-1.html

hahaha, very funny. I just think the stock 15" rims are kinda puny looking, that's all, the 16" are ok, but even those aren't that great, and that's what i have on my truck. The only reason i like them is that they are 8" wide so i can fit some nice tires on them without having to get new rims.

Anyways, i'm waiting on pins and needles here to see your lift Knobbyman...I'm about ready to jump on a plane with all my air tools and compressor and do it for you just so i can see the darn thing!

Oh, and one more thing...I have been checking the posts to see anything about the 10" Whiplash suspension lift but i can't find much as far as whether people like them or not. There seems to be plenty of writing about not trusting the company, but none on whether the damn lift works well. There are 3 dakotas in my town with this lift, but i don't know the guys or girl well enough to stop them and ask them about it, plus some guy trying to wave them down might piss them off and i don't feel like getting shot from some red-neck white-trash guy.

So if anyone has heard whether people like them or not would be great to hear.

Thanks - 2002 Dakota SXT 4X4 ExtCab

Nevermind about the Whiplash thing, i looked on Google.com and got all the info i needed.

PS, I talked to "the head" of the Rancho Technical staff (was on hold for about an hour and a half), FYI SUMMER 2002, 6" lift for around $1650, promised(should have gotten it in writting). They said the lift works well, the only thing left to hammer out is how to make it even more affordable because they want to make a kit for around $1300.

If he(or she) is like anybody else I have ever met with a customized vehicle, they are more than happy to talk about their "project in the making". I wouldn't pull up along side them while going down the road yelling out my window, but if I were at a stop light or getting gas I would surely let them know what a fine machine they had and go from there.

Yeah, i would totally talk to them if i had the chance, it just never arises. the only time i see their trucks are when they are at work or in the shop by my house getting tinkered on, and the mechanics their have no idea whether the owners like their lifts or not, or whether they are all that great a lift.

And your right Knobbyman, if Rancho will get their lift out by summer you can say bye bye to all of Truckin's business with dakotas. Rancho promised it to be a kick ass lift, one that is as rugged and dependable as the rest of their lifts (which I hope is a good thing).

BTW everyone.. I really REALLY!!! Doubt that there will ever be a suspension lift shorter then 4.5" because of the way the steering is. 4.5" is still pushing the limits anything larger then that and there shouldn't be any problems.

Kevin,

Thank you for your interest in Rancho products. We are planning on
releasing the kit this year in the fall. The kit is to remain the same
height as our current kit for the 1997-1999 Dakota. For further information
on Rancho products, contact a distributor in your area. To locate a Rancho
distributor visit our website at: www.gorancho.com.

Sorry if my question came across the wrong way , in no way was I tring to be a smart a$$. I have kept up with most of the things going on at this site , especially the new Chassis Tech lifts, but I honestly have no idea what Knobbyman meant by that statement. The complete opposite of what he said would be more true to believe. I`ve had many lifted trucks in the past , the most recent being a 99 DAK CC on 38`s , so I`m not entirely clueless , although I do a good job at it occasionaly(like today)! I just don`t understand why making a lift shorter than 4.5 in. has anything to do with making the steering correction worse. Please forgive me!

I work with some of them Hawkeye.. I'll send you a picture some day... As long as my lense doesn't break.

Anyway..

Scott - I know your not trying to be a jerk or anything it is confusing. But.. If you look under your truck at the steering the first u-joint it fits in a curve made by the frame (on the inside of the frame wheel right above the front drivers side tire). When we droped mine doen 4.5" the u-joint just BAIRLY fits under the frame. So if you did anything less then 4.5" the u-joint for your steering would be hitting the frame. If you went with alittle more the u-joint would have alittle more room to breath. The only way I can see a 3" lift fitting is some fancy work with your steering or cutting into the frame. Does that make it any clearer? I'd try and take a picture but I can't get my camera to fit up in that space. Maybe from the top I could... I'll try again on friday.

Hawkeye.. were you going to say something like... "RANCHO SUCKS THEY WILL NEVER HAVE A LIFT FOR US!"? .. or something like that? Because I keep thinking .. why don't we just give up on them?

LOL @ Knobby!

Only reason I'm waiting to see what Rancho has to offer is cuz they are an ESTABLISHED and REPUTABLE lift manufacturer. TruckinSuspension, Chassis Tech, or whoever may have that reputation too, some day, but right now I don't have that warm & fuzzy feeling about them.

I'm still pulling for you and dpkerns ... hoping everything comes out alright in the end!
