I'm on your side, IDIOT! While all the other 4x4 guys are calling you guys out, I was just asking why you do it. I'm just trying to see your point of view! Besides, I believe it was one of your people that said "its 90% driver." I never claimed once to be an offroad guru, I just like to go wheeling. I didn't know I had to have thousands sunk into my 4x4 to be able to offer my two cents. Plus, if you really did any wheeling at all, youd realize a body lift and decent tires really helps out offroad. Me and multiple friends run body lifts with 33's or 35's, and they wheel better than most other rigs. And its a cheap setup. Like I said before choose your words wisely. I'm on your side over here and you guys are talking sh*t about me and my truck? Fine, live life with your head in the sand. My body lifted dakota has pulled out trucks on 44's from mudholes I go through all the time. And the reason they usually get stuck is because theyre crap ass fords with a broken front hub, which means theyre TWO WHEEL DRIVE!!!!!!

Ok, this will be my last post on this thread since i think it's getting a little out of hand. We all have dakotas and we all should be getting along, whether it's a 2wd, 4wd, 1wd, or even 6wd. Two wheel drive trucks CAN wheel and be as capable as a 4wd, even though some think not. If you look at it realistically, a 4x4 dakota is actually a 2wd truck and a 2wd truck is actually a 1wd. Remember, the tire with the least traction will spin out and the other goes to sleep. I had a locker and i was a TRUE 2wd truck just like 4x4's and that's why I was just as capable. But my point is, both trucks CAN off-road, both trucks ARE dakotas, and BOTH TRUCKS shouldn't be holding grudges against each other. Neither is better than the other so we shouldn't even be talkin about this anyways.

Purplemonster, don't fret over what ID4x4 said. That's just a line to stir up trouble, which we don't want in this forum. Whether u are an off road guru or not, you have a dakota, as we all do (or did), so that's all that's important.

Shall we get back to the original topic?

Mudholes, Mudholes, that seems to be your entire expieriece with what you call "wheeling". I will stick to my guns, spend your money as you like, lift a 2wd and beat the piss out of it, or lift a f-250 10 inches and be a friggin street queen. BTW "purplemonster" you seem to confuse me as 2wd guy, and boy are you sensetive!!! chill dude its only words

Sorry dudes, I just get pissed when people start ranting about my truck. Plus Ive had a pretty sh*tty freakin weekend. No trouble intended. BTW I'm taking chaximus's approach and staying away from this thread. They are all dakotas, and we should be celebrating them rather than comparing whose is better, but I think we tend to get territorial and this did get way out of hand. Whatever you wheel, its cool. To each his own, make the best out of the truck you have, whether its 2 or 4 wheel drive.

Let's see, where to begin....

I have a 2WD Dakota, similar to chaxximus, with a locker rear axle.

It's all driver.

I get in and out of places I NEED to go, whether it's fishin' holes, campsites, river "put-in" points or buddies cabins.

I have no friggin reason to "crawl over a rock" when I can drive around it.

I've watched guys BREAK drivelines, axles, shock mounts, etc.. all while attempting to do something that they easily could have driven around (with 4WD vehicles). We end up wasting most of the weekend while they look for a place to fix their f*ck-up, or attempt to fix it on the trail.

Common sense. That's where the whole "it's 90% driver" comes in.

Chaximus,
Thanks for posting those vids, you got out there and did more than most 4wd owners ever do. your truck looked really good BTW.

As far as the rest of this BS? Dont tell anyone how they can mod thier truck unless your making the payments. Some of these 2wd trucks look awesome lifted, I drove a 2wd lifted truck before i got my 4x4 dakota. I never crossed the deepest holes, but i sure had fun offroad and thats what this hobby is all about

I'll retract my last statement. After looking at a few of these lifted 2wd's, some do look excellent. I guess not everyone is planning on doing extreme 4wheelin' in these. Nothing wrong with wanting to look good.
