Subject: Exhaust in the way?
IP: Logged

Message:
When I crank my torsion bars up will the distance the bolt go be the actual distance of lift in the front? Possibly more/less? If it's only going to be the same or less I'm going to be highly irritated. I have about 2 1/2-3" of play on the drivers side and about an inch on the passenger because of the exhaust. Anyone know? Thanks.

Another thing that I just thought of...will aything bad happen if the torsion bar and exhaust are too close together...I wont let them touch but if I do tweak them it's gonna be really close.

That inch on the passenger side is the clearance from the exhaust pipe to the adjusting bolt. As you turn the bolt clockwise (to raise the front), the length of bolt on the exhaust pipe side of the cross-member will increase, but should miss the exhaust pipe.

"When I crank my torsion bars up will the distance the bolt go be the actual distance of lift in the front?"
It's an angular change, and because the front suspension A-arm is so much longer than the torsion rod anchor (the adjustment part), you may only need to give the adjustment bolt a couple of turns to raise the front an inch or so.

Take your time. Don't rush things - that's when stuff goes wrong.
Put a piece of masking tape on each fender above the front wheel and make a pencil mark on it. Measure from the ground to the mark. Write it down.
Now go give each adjusting bolt ONE turn. Bounce the front end by the bumper so it'll take the new set, and measure to the mark again. Continue until you're where you want the front end to be, but remember: there's a trade-off.
Your front suspension will then have more travel in the UP direction (compress) and less travel in the down direction (extend).

I'm just wanting to see if I can fit 32's without a lift. Other than that I just want it level. Looks rediculous the way it slopes right now. Thanks again.
